Damascus EDC, the start of a journey: Est. 2017 (w. Dec 2024 update).

That’s fair. Sadly it will fade around the thumb stud from opening. But the pattern is still there and highly visible, just not as dark.

I’ve always wondered about trying a high temp ceramic that I’ve used for polished wheels works well in that application… maybe I’ll try it out and see what comes of it

You could be onto something there with the ceramic. I have some professional grade ceramic coating left from my car, perhaps I will do a tiny test dot on a hidden part of the stock to see if anything weird happens.

FWIW, I used kamikaze Infinity wax on my box elder slabs... 😅

Not much to update. Took the knife camping and it did its job with style. Still my fave Sebenza.

It's been way too long since I've posted an update in this thread. I haven't been carrying this every day but it still gets pulled out and put to use fairly often.
This one was carried every work day for at least a year starting in May of 2022 when I bought it new. I am surprised at how well it has held up.
Yes, the pattern has faded, the thumb stud is no longer blue, and the scales have a lot of marks on them...
But, I still refrain from sending it in for a spa. I like the way it looks now, especially knowing how much work this knife has done for me.
Yes, these CRK's are beautiful and they aren't cheap... but they beg to be used! And the more they're used, the better they become, in my opinion!

New, the day that I got it in May of 2022:

Looks great! Both the strop and knife have a story to tell!

Looks amazing, my only concern is how the edge holds up. I know some ppl compare edge to 154 CM
Thanks! I wasn't sure about the edge holding ability, until I got it. Unless you are the type of person that is really hard on your blades, it's a non-issue. I used this for everything that I needed a knife for and was never disappointed. In fact, it's never seen a stone since I've had it. A strop with 3 micron Gunny Juice has been sufficient. Granted- I've never had to repair damage, but just give it a stropping when it feels less than sharp. Everyone has different standards and expectations, but I can't really tell any difference between this and my CRK's in S35VN. Your mileage may vary...

Thanks Ben! They do have stories they could tell!

HELL YEAH!
It looks amazing now!

Thank you kidcongo for making this thread, and to everyone for all your wonderful pictures and updates.

I bought this large 31 with Chad Nichols ladder damascus and micarta inlays about 3 years ago now, and it's become one of my favorite users. I actually bought it with the intention of putting it to as much use as possible as AEB-L is a favorite steel of mine, and it has not disappointed one bit.

I live on a farm so it sees a good deal of use opening feed bags, bags of dirt, gravel, etc., cutting twine off bales, cutting/trimming lines for fencing, and whatever else might happen on any given day.

I figured I'd post an update here as I just stumbled upon this subforum and thread for the first time, and it's very cool to see I'm not alone in my appreciation of this steel and configuration. It's extremely tough, takes a great polish easily, is very easy to sharpen, and resists damage well. I was astonished how little deformation there was to the edge the first time I accidentally dinged it up against a nail, and I've never done anything that actually chipped it.

It's definitely become my favorite CRK, and probably my favorite pocket knife period. I'm excited to keep using this for years to come, and hope to pass it along to my son someday.

Thank you again for all your great testimonials! This was really a joy to come across and read through.
