Damascus

I have a 110 damascus user with walnut scales that is one sharp knife! It takes and holds an edge like no other i own, including bg-42 and s30v .....It reuires more maintanence than stainless steel, but it cuts so good i don't mind the extra care .

What do you use it on? Do you use it as a hunting knife. Or rope and
paper. Thanks for your reply.

...I've never owned a Damascas bladed knife and I have always wondered if they'd do more than look pretty. Often wondered how it held up if actually used. I'm much more of a user than a collector...My "collection" now consists of a pair of 426's...LOL...The others get used ...  :D

I read in Blade Magazine (on sale at your local newstand!) that some contest/test consisted of swiping a knife at a 2" rope...if you sliced it through in one swing, it passed the test... :D :p

Trax- What kind of rope?????

From the photo, it looked like the kind you climbed up in Basic Training...or in your High School Gym Class, if you skipped Basic... :p

I dont know if I have any knife that sharp! Looks like I had better get to work on the Lansky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...I've seen that rope test Trax and wh4f...there's actually a competion using the same rope thing. The knives they use are weight forward combat or survival type knives. Very long blades...and they do get through that rope in one swing...Did ya ever see that video with the guy cutting through a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper that was rolled into a 2 inch cylinder and then stood on end?...He went right through it with one of those knives...Lots of speed needed too...

I swear it's true! The bearded guy in the article had a big old Bowie-type knife...I don't recall (or maybe they didn't say) what it was...but that good ol' boy was a-swingin' away... :D

Was it the Blade show???

Now that you mention it, they could have been doing those tests in the courtyard at the blade show. However I never made it that far...
Stayed inside and drooled all over the Buck Displays!
I also Believe you that there is such a test! I am just glad you added it was with bigger knives!!! My poor 110 wouldnt make it :D
