Ok yeah. Sometimes I put my knife down and it magically disappears. :o I am fond of wood handles, but they blend in to the forests by me so damn well. Sometimes it takes me 5 or 10 minutes to figure out where I placed the knife down. Besides trying to be a lil more responsible, I started thinking about highly visible colors.

We all know Bryan Breeden makes a great knife in his orange G10. I have one which I like very much and it contrasts well enough in most seasons. But in the fall when the forests by me look like the pic below, you can see how orange and yellow colors don’t contrast much.

So what color would contrast well in all 4 seasons….. RC has tactical pink, but I just can’t do that. I guess I am not manly enough for pink yet.

I decided on a handle color that I don’t see much at all out there. I think it is a perfect color that stands out in all seasons. In the pic below there are 3 knives. One is Orange handled Breeden, The other is a Bocote wood DP knife, and the 3rd is the new one I just received yesterday! The forest is snow covered, but you decide which color contrasts the best.

After seeing a bunch of Laconico blades being toted by members here, and then Jake went and posted his HWK; I was finished drooling over them. I thought Rays work would be perfect with Blue G10 scales. I contacted Ray and since he didn’t have any Blue G10 he let me send him some! A few weeks later I have this!!!!!

I couldn’t be happier with the way the knife turned out. Ray’s work is outstanding. Fit and Finish is great as well the grinds he put on this knife. The knife has an excellent thin edge and is razor sharp. There is plenty of handle which is extremely comfortable. The blade design is very cool and although I haven’t had time to use it yet; I am sure it will excel at every task I can think of. Let me say something about the sheath. I am not a huge fan of Kydex, but this sheath is well thought out and is comfortable to wear on the belt. I like that you don’t need a tek lock and that you can remove the belt loop completely. I’ll probably get leather pants for it anyway, but at least I don’t have to rush on that.

Thanks for looking.

Nice tactical smurf de-animator! Seriously though, that's a good looking knife. I'm more of a fan of orange, but the blue looks good and seems pretty visible.

awsome looking knife! rays grinds look great too.i am not a big fan of synthetic handles, but from a utilitarian aspect, they are nice for visibility.

Tony...you got the fever bad!!! Thats a seriously cool blade..does it feel as good in hand as it looks...I like the Blue by the way. Gene

great pics Tony...:) i couldn't agree more with the handle colors.. it's scary how blades just disappear sometimes, especially if your blade is coated..those orange and blue scales stand out great amongst the foliage...

i love that HWK.... i can't handle much more pics of those, before i break down and order one...:o

Gene I think the fever is breaking. I really have to calm down on knife purchases..

You would love the handle bro, Its quite large. I think the knife feels great. I think a slight palm swell might make it perfect, but there's alot of beef to the handle so it's not necessary.

Mike man, you can only resist for so long....

Great blade,I like the blue as much as the tactical pink....both stand out, atleast the pink one I do not worry about it walking off , LOL !!! Drop a set bro :D grab a pink Izula .but really that is a great knife....I may hafta look into one....

Awesome! After seeing so many cool HWKs around here, I got my name on rays list too.

Hey Tony, thanks for posting those nice pics. I'm glad it worked out nicely for you. It's the first time I've made a blue knife! I just hope people aren't tired of seeing pictures of my knives yet:o

Nice! Bright blue tends to be an excellent high-viz all-terrain color, since there are very few things in nature that are genuinely blue in color.

Great looking blade...just steer clear of those fields of bluebells though ! LOL !!!

The new high Vis green for hunting would work pretty well.

I put a small tab of GITD (Glow in the dark) tape on my camp knife for easy ID at night.

Hi Tony, Great pics. That blue G-10 really shows up good. I had a customer just 2 days back on sunday came to the shop to pic his knife up and he had his knife made up with blue G-10 also. I think that blue color is getting more and more popular just from the orders I have had and the ones that have yet to do. You can see from your pics how well the Blue shows up when out in the woods. Thanks for sharing them.

Bryan

Nice blade, looks like a great worker. The blue handle is something i've never seen before but I like it very much.

Tony,

Aren't his grinds just SCHMOOOOVE!?!

Nice blade bro. Glad you are fortunate enough to afford one. Oh - and I don't have to borrow your Aurora (thanks again for the offer) I have one on the way!
