I have thousands of satisfied customers, JTR357 and have resolved all negative threads ever posted about me to the customer's preference.

This is not an accounting error on my part, my friend. This is a customer new to ordering custom knives who insisted on paying upfront thinking it would move him in front of hundreds of other customers. When that didn't happen, the rant via email began. To try to accommodate him, I bent over backwards to get his knife done anyway even though it might piss off hundreds others. That clearly was a mistake. He continued to rant. He has now been refunded. Will he continue to rant?

Dan
Dan, I've been wanting to get a MUCK from you for a long while, and this in no way changes that.

The sheer fact of it is custom knives, even set models made the same way over and over, take time to produce, and money. A maker of course has to have an order for each knife before making it, else they will have surplus/overhead. Whether you were a one man op or a small group of makers, this would still be true. Only the big name companies can afford to be so free with their materials.

Paco - you have your money in hand and continue to rant/troll. I am beyond flabbergasted.

Since you and mctrinket insist on knowing - I had a payment come in late last night and had money in my Paypal account available. Plain and simple. I did exactly what I said I would do. There is no need to continue ranting.

Be honorable and state in this thread that the matter is closed and you consider it resolved.

I was going to argue the use of the word "rant", but after checking Merriam to be accurate I don't deny that I have been talking in an excited or declamatory manner, nor that I am vehemently scolding. I do however take issue with the term troll as have not posted extraneously or off-topic, I also am not being malicious, vicious or unreasonable. I have stated facts or opinions that are not invalid.

Are you going to post that the matter is resolved, superpaco?

Check this section before you order a custom knife. This isn't the first time Dan has been here, and I doubt it will be his last.

If he took your money he should not have spent your money until your knife was ready to ship. Buyer should not have sent money up front either, so I blame the buyer as much as the maker when one does this.

I think I've said this here about 50 times, lol, but I'll say it again. NEVER give money to a maker until the knife is ready to ship.
If they don't have the money for the material for one knife you should look elsewhere.
There are plenty(most all) of makers out there that would never take a cent before the knife is ready to ship.
I've never had a maker take money up front.
The only reason to pay anything up front is if you have ingraving or something else done that may prevent them from selling the knife if you are no longer able to pay.

What Ken said.

This thread is ripe for dying a natural death. Mr. Superpaco has received a refund, and expressed his displeasure. Brother Dan has responded. I suspect that one of our fine moderators will help it to die if it doesn't fade out on its own.

Dan- could I get a folding bushcrafter tomorrow or WHAT! I want I want I want! NOW! :D Yes this isn't very helpful.. nor is this entire posting :)

Dan makes excellent knives. He just needs to make me a folding bushy knife :) NOW! lol Or I will... type a bunch of stuff and moan a little bit..

I'm with Sloth, a folding bushie is what I want, and I want it sooner then later, it's about to snow here and have to be prepared. All joking aside, as I stated he makes a great knife, you just have to wait and I'm not good at that.

There are two sides to this.

1. If you decide to make the plunge into the custom knife arena, you have to know what you're getting into. Operations run ranging from one-man shops to several people on hand, wait times range from days to years. Before ordering a knife, you need to research the maker and make sure you're okay with what you're getting into. With Mr. Koster, I'm sure no one can say you'll be screwed as in he will take your money and not deliver a product (eventually). However, you should realize he is a one-man operation and with that, communication will be an issue because sometimes there just are not enough hours in the day. If you're not okay with that and just waiting until the knife arrives, move on to someone else.

2. Mr. Koster should not be fooling around with the money that people provide unless he has the means and is prepared to issues refunds immediately. PayPal is not a difficult animal -- you link your bank account and you will be able to transfer funds very easily between your bank account and PayPal account to issue a quick refund. If all else fails, PayPal also accepts credit cards. If someone decides they want their money back, it should be available and given fairly immediately (48-72 hours).

Patience is a virtue, but I can understand superpaco's frustration. He should have done his due diligence and done research before hand, but at this point, Mr. Koster should really consider a way to provide more timely customer service and communication.

Posting personal information is very low class, Paco. I'm sure everyone reading this understands that already.

I've done everything I can to resolve this amicably with you.

I sent you your refund.

This matter should be closed and considered resolved.

Dan

Done deal,Never ever heard a bad word about you Dan,An a good chance never will.I great knifemaker who takes pride in what he does and "CUSTOMER SERVICE",You solved the problem in the easiest way. Alot of folks really dont understand the time it takes to produce a custom handmade knife,There not just stamped out by the thousands like productions. And paying upfront is a way to keep all of are customers in order an not backing out at the end. When we could have been making other customers orders.I personally feel this is resolved in the upmost manner and needs to be locked and forgotten.

What a mess. Another example of how NOT to use this forum. The original post had no summary, just a big wall of text, reading assignment for everyone. Keep in mind, just as some makers might appear to be "disorganized or hard to work with", the has often be said of some customers. I'm not insinuating anything so before anyone gets their tidy whiteys in a wad, simply take away from that what you will.

The issue is resolved as Dan has refunded those persons that requested it, end of story. continuing to crap everywhere is not going to help anyone here, so enough is enough. J
There is no further knowledge to be gained by the second kick of a mule.
