This is still on going. I am waiting to hear back.

He came to me. I posted a wanted ad for a Mayo TNT. He emailed saying he had a "new" (that is the key word in his emails) medium TNT. I bought it for $700.

I got it today and it is in bad shape. The blade is not sharp at all. I can see flat spots on the cutting edge.

The logo is faded off. Tom told me this happens because the black won't stick very well to the blade.

Last and worst of all one of the pocket clip screws is stripped out. When I frist glanced at the pocket clip one of the screws looked as if it were going to fall out. It was just hanging. I could push it flush with my finger. I didn't touch it with any tools.

For $700 what would you expect?

For my $700, I'd expect a hell of a lot more than you got! Regardless of the value of TNTs, you paid for a new knife, so you should get a new knife. You should get back to this guy and get your money back based on his misrepresentation of the knife's condition.

BTW, if you're thinking of getting your money back, you might want to try and work things out with this guy first, before blasting him on GB&U. He should be given a chance to respond to you, before this transaction is made public. Just my opinion.

Yes you are very right. He just emailed saying send it back:D I get a little excited when things are going wrong and I don't hear back from people. $700 is way more than I usually spend. Dannyv can be trusted:), he is making good on our deal.

Yes,I agree to try to communicate before blasting away. However, these kinds of extreme situations are good to know in the public. While I applaud him for doing right by saying I'll refund the money/ return the knife which I would have expected no less.I also wonder how the condition of this knife,if what was detailed in this post is 100% correct, how something like this could possibly ever be mistaken for new?Sometimes opinions of what is good condition, excellent condition etc. can be in the eye of the beholder,I don't think in this case you should have been put in the situation to have to return the knife at all.The knife should have never shipped in that condition under the pretense of "new".All out misrepresentation like the one described is no excuse no matter how good the end result is in this transaction.Would the person in question like to respond and explain how one sends a used knife as new?

He just got the knife today. I was not home when he first emailed me and a few hours later, he is lambasting me for selling bad goods. Could'nt you wait until I had a chance to answer? I bought knife from "the bad Guy" a few months ago and just put it away as I did not think it was in bad shape as he also advertized it as in new shape.I never carried or used it, I can swear to that. It was in my safe all the time until I needed money and had to sell. I would never had sold it if I knew it was defective. My fault for not checking and trusting other forumites. I underdstand how Beau feels but imagine how I feel. I got screwed too!!I am not rich and would never use a Mayo TNT for EDC.

A TNT that is purported to be "new" gets sold and is discovered to be in horrendous shape, this is a major violation.

How does anyone sell a knife in this kind of shape without disclosing every single flaw?

And this is the shape you recieved it in from TBG and he also purported it to be in 'New' shape. What's up with this?

you bought a $700.00 knife from BadGuy and you never checked it when you got it?
you just put it away without inspecting it and then turned around and sold it ,again without inspecting it?
sounds like a bunch of B.S. to me:confused:
why don't you email badguy before you start blaming him for your failure to inspect a very expensive knife:confused:

 I think your mistaken. What knife did I supposedly sell you?? We better get this straight right now, As I got enough problems without people making stuff up.

By the way, I never had the pleasure of owning a TNT EVER, and if I did, I would never sell it. So please come back in here dannyv and post the correct name you were refering to

Dude, this is really pissing me off!!!! I have only sold one or two knives in the last couple months. And none of them were over the $100 range and they were both LNIB. I don't recognize this Danny dudes name. Tell you one thing, this is getting straightened out right here though

I KNOW thats the case, but it is damaging none the less. I wish this guy would get on here and clear this up ASAP:rolleyes:

Of course, $700 for a TNT at todays prices, even though it needs a little fixing up., may not be a bad deal...

Danny, are you saying that you never inspected this knife? If this is true that is incredibly negligent on your part.

I have never seen anything but praise from anyone that has completed a transaction with TBG, so I firmly believe that this is a case of mistaken identity.

Danny, you need to clear this up.

After searching the Exchange to find the CORRECT seller, I did come across this thread here.

Thats the closest I have come to selling a TNT:D

I think that dannyv needs to take a good, long, hard look in the mirror and ask himself what's-up. If a man can't be honest, he has nothing.:(.

And if it was a mistake, shame on him for not inspecting the knife in-question upon receipt of said knife, and again prior to packaging it up for shipping...To me, that is a lapse in common-sense at the least...I would NEVER ship a knife, watch, etc. to anyone without giving it a full inspection and full disclosure of its' condition prior to shipping it off...NEVER.

dannyv...Step-up to the plate and make this right...We are all watching, and waiting...It's now up to you.;).

Just my opinion, but I have NEVER received a package and NOT gone over the knife with a fine tooth comb. I imagine that's the case with most, if not all of us. As big of knife nuts as we are, I imagine most, if not all of us are anxiously awaiting the Postman or UPS truck. I just cannot imagine somebody getting a package with a new knife, and NOT checking the knife out upon opening the package. It just don't make sense.

dannyv, I have read on the forums that you modified a Buck/Mayo by relocating the clip along with some other modifications. Although I KNOW for sure you didn't get this TNT from me, you didn't happen to modify this one as well did you? The fact that you are a Retired Jeweler makes it even harder to believe you didn't break out the looking glass on this one when you recieved it from whomever you bought it from.
