Hey guys, I have a dark blue saber grind 154CM Manix 2. Is it rare or anything?

doesn't exist that i know of. The new blue clear FRCP handled manix has a FFG 154CM blade.

Nope, it's not that kind of blue G10. It's DARK navy blue, almost black. I will see if I can get some pics.

What Rev said, but it's an odd switch. The other half of the mix would have been an FFG S30V blade in black G10/full liners, assuming the skeletonized liners stayed with the blue scales. Either that or the scales are full custom work but that makes even less sense economically.

Seems like he may be pulling some legs!!! Tho a navy manix would be sweet !! Or maybe he is color blind and it's just a plain old black manix!!! My wife always had problems with dark blues and blacks !!

That would make more sense. Custom scales on a basic M2 would be economically crazy (IMO), but people put Wilkins scales on Griptilians, and those cost more than the knife.

I'm not colorblind and it's not a FrankenMix or whatever. It's factory. It has solid liners as well. The dude I got it from said that it was an early Manix 2. It has not been dyed, it's definitely factory. I'll get some pics up

It's not ringing a bell (in case that wasn't obvious ;) ). Pics would help. The early/pre-production/prototype Manix 2 I remember had black scales but a FFG blade. BTW, I think you said saber grind, but I assume it's actually hollow ground?

This is just about all the manix knives I know of, all in one shot. Which one do you have?
It could have easily been dyed with Rit, and you would never know the difference.

The one at about 4:30 looks like it could be called dark blue. Otherwise I don't think it is a production Manix 2

The guy I got it from said it was an early production model. I will give Spyderco a call tomorrow and chime in with my results. :)

There was a pilot run release on the M2 but that was the standard black IIRC. Other than that the only way you're going to know it's early production as opposed to late is by the date code on the box, assuming it is original to the knife.

I'll be interested to see some shots of this knife.
