Dark Blue Manix 2, Rare?

The SKU number was from my black Manix 2, I think. I'm pretty sure I didn't get a box with the dark blue one.

The guy I got it from said it was an early production model. I will give Spyderco a call tomorrow and chime in with my results. :)

The early production models or Pilot Run in this case were black.

The dark photos make it hard to tell but if it is a dark blue and not just an off shade of black then since Spyderco hasn't released a dark blue one it has been dyed or someone replaced the scales. Someone replaced his with camo G-10 and it looked factory as well cause he did a real good job. The bad part is someone modified it and sold it without sharing that small detail it sounds like. I know the person you bought it from posted here and he didn't alter it but where did he buy it from and was it sold as NIB?

They don't bother with the BK on black G-10 handled knives, C101GP2 would be the correct SKU for a plain edged standard 154CM Manix 2.

I've run those photos showing both knives through every filter I have, and I agree with Josh K, if there's any difference at all, it's very slight. IMHO, inconsistency between batches of G-10 the simplest, most reasonable explanation for what's going on here.

i agree with the g-10 being off color or the knife was dyed. im not sure what knife in the picture is the navy blue, but the bottom one in the pic looks like the hardware is darker, if this is the navy blue one, i think the whole knive has been dyed whole

The stainless steel hardware is not going to take any color from the dye.
