Dark Blue Manix 2, Rare?

There was a pilot run release on the M2 but that was the standard black IIRC.
I'll be interested to see some shots of this knife.

+1
Cannot wait to see the pictures of this unknown to me production variant.

I will get pics up when I get home tonight, I promise. :) The dude I got it from said he got it from a guy that swore it was factory. It all sounds crazy but I will get the pics up, LOL! And it's hollow ground and not saber ground, I guess.

Here's my guess. The original owner wanted FFG S30v and bought the blue sprint. He then decided he wanted black scales and tried to rit dye the blue ones. After that failed, he bought a 154CM model and swapped scales.

Thus leaving you with a 154CM blade with rit dyed dark blue scales.
And he has a FFG S30v with black scales. ;)

I was told it hasn't been tampered with on any way. Again, when I get home I'll get some pics out

Well, call me Mr. Scrooge and the Grinch, but when I read this, I get sort of skeptical :) :D There's as many layers here as a wedding cake? ;) Don't get me wrong, it'd be cool if it were legit. But "I was told by someone who was told by someone who swore blah blah blah" starts out with a bit of a handicap. :o

Uh, yeah, it kinda does... :D He's hoping you've got a one-of-a-kind. :)

My apologies for the terrible pictures. My good camera was left on the boat, which is now shrink wrapped. I could get some better pics tomorrow with good lighting most likely.

I did not alter this photos color in any way. I just adjusted for lighting, shadows and brightness in photoshop to bring out the colors in the photo that the light did not hit. You can see the difference between the black and blue.

Thank you very much, sir. Yeah, that mobile phone camera leaves much to be desired! I need to get the iPhone4!

In this pic which one is the blue one?

Nope, one is clearly blue. The pictures DO NOT do it justice. I will try it again tomorrow with better light.

Hey Guys,

Thought I'd chime in since I just saw this thread, he got the knife from me and I didn't dye anything.

Same thing the fella told me I got it from, its definitely a blue black knife. Where it got the color, I have no idea.

Maybe it is a black one that was left out in the sun too long or exposed to bleach or some other chemical?

As far as I know, there haven't been any dark blue Manix 2 (I too have every Manix 2 version produced so far to my knowledge).

Regards,

Rich

G10 is pretty resistant to such things. Still, if that did happen to a black handled knife and some change occurred I would tend to think you'd end up with a different shade of black rather than having a separate color develop.

I was told many years ago by someone who restored classic cars for a living that the only "true black" is the total absence of light and that, outside of a "light tight" room, there's really no such thing as black only a mixture of colors that approximates black. He said that any supposedly black object, if you look at it long enough, will begin to look either purple, blue, red, or green and that certain types of lighting will make that more obvious than others.
