Dark OPS Knives anyone heard anything?

This is hilarious. For more entertainment go to Mad Dog's Tactical forums, and under Knife Forums/General Knife Discussion they have a thread about Dark Ops. They rip into Paul Basal something fierce.

all the places I've seen them says "pre-order", to the best of my knowledge nobody has an actual knife from them.

I'm still waiting for someone who has heard something to point me to an actual offer to sell an actual knife. :D

Meanwhile, we continue to discuss the fine points of ... what?

"Yesterday upon the stair I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today. I wish that man would go away."

You gotta understand that the knives are being marketed by Pyramont, same guys who do BHI, MOD, Hydrastorm, and all those flashy products. Even the ads look the same. I'm sure the actual knives aren't bad, but Pyramont seems to think its main market is 13 year old boys.

Fascinating. I don't know what BHI is, but you're right about the others (Blackhawk by any chance?) looking the same. You see this a LOT in marketing where it's clear that the agency has little or no knowledge about their market. No research.

It's particularly clear in anti-drug ads and ANY add that has a kid on a skateboard (drinking Sunny-D or something).

But then... maybe the business owner doesn't know better either.

It's a one-man show...the guy's MOTHER helps him out! NO! HE DOESNT know what he's doing, one of the ex wives filled me in...the guy's being followed by her, and I ran into her at one of the show's...apparently he just doesnt cheat when making knives! ;-)

...my point in replying there anyways is that people like you are still reading them! But thanks for pointing out the dates! ;) And, yes, I do have an ulterior motive..."Pyramont" is hardly a reputable company, the guy's a sham, and the products are knock offs...do some searching and see for yourself how many lawsuits the guys been involved in...you'd be crazy to touch the guy's stuff, and you can't tell me our government's using it either!

A certain number of us prefer conversations with some spirit, whether to pile on or dispense from our wealth of wisdom. However, except for the occasional new guy coming on board, this is old - 2004 - news. It's a little over the top to think we're ignorant of the issue.

Aside from the often repeated points you've mentioned, the knives are workmanlike in construction - no major flaws - and they do work, as owners have reported. If there is any other major problems aside from the original design copying from Extrema Ratio and the ridiculous ad copy, we'd like to know.

Frankly, if I found one cheap enough in a useful design, I might buy it - but that's two strikes against it happening . . .

A picture says a thousand words.

My sons play with cheap looking knives like these. I'm tired of the guy making a mockery of true professionals. The absurd pics, the over use of exclamation points!!!!!!!! and DOrk Ops, added to the ridiculous language used, plus shady business practices hurt all of us. I know, it's been said before, but the more times it's said, as far as I'm concerned, the better. It's NOT a marketing firm, it's one man who doesn't even proofread his copy first! Lawsuits abound with this man. Stay away from any products, fake awards his company hands out to his friends, and fake publications from Pyramont. He lies. He cheats, and he copies others' work, while marketing to 10 year old boys. The address he claims for the company doesn't even exist! The entire "company" is a sham. Try getting through on the "company" phone #. Try locating the fake address. Or just go to Kaybee Toys and you can purchase an equally "scary" looking knife that works just as well.

their special steel is n690 modified. i talked to the owner and he admits they are copies even the still almost. of course he says they are common designs used by many manufactures. he was very nice. i am buying one. i know some have shown they are extremely strong. honestly they seem to be as good as the extrema ratio originals

Scooby would be ashamed of you.

Someone already pointed out the shared marketing agency that comes up with those terrible ads that this company, extreme shock ammo etc have. I THINK the same holding company is behind Hellfire Lights (chinese surefire knock offs) http://www.hellfireusa.com/ and Counter sniper scopes, which appear to be rebadged chinese scopes.

Dark Ops Knives are marked Made in USA, so do they have a factory in the United States? The website makes no small deal out of how they are 100% USA manufactured.

I don't see how these things appeal to anyone but mall ninjas. Mall ninjas and their possum de-animation in the back yard.

When I spoke with the owner of Pyramont, Jim, he was on his way to China so he wouldn't be able to get back to me for a week or so. Anyone who sells out his family (wife) and sells out his country to China (while claiming to be behind the American military) will have no issues copying others' work (as is evidenced by the lawsuits)and selling inferior products and screwing his clients. Wait and see. When it's quality, you don't need over-the-top BS. Do your research.
