I have to wonder if it's as ugly, uncomfortable, and useless in real life as it appears in pictures.

*I makes a little joke.

The really funny stuff is normally found at the Dork Oops website:
The back taper of the broadening penetrator tip is beveled as not to catch on bone or clothing when withdrawn from the wound.
Broad hilts keep the hand from-oversliding onto the blade should the user hit bone in a thrusting maneuver.

Now I know Dark Ops gets a lot of bad criticism but cmon now. Who in the hell designed that handle with the ENORMOUS hump? Did they actually hold and use the knife before deciding this should go into production? Then again, maybe I'm wrong and that handle would just melt into your hand and be a dream to work with..

I think you were right with your first impression. That 1/4" of metal pressing into your hand will do a nice job of breaking some bones when chopping at the woodpile in the parent's backyard ... um, I mean, when tactically deanimating Tangoes!

Wait no one likes this...? But i just purchased 10 of them for my growing militia of terrorist and Bigfoot hunters...:D

Ahhhh I have found the answer from Dark Ops...THIS explains the handle...its for guys with very large hands :)

"Unique handle design incorporates paracord wrapping channels that allow user configuration of overall handle thickness. Ideal for those with large hands that wish a greater grip thickness than normally available. Beveled grip serrations at all user contact points provide outstanding grip in grave situations. The tapered and grip-serrated thumb ridge provides a broad reverse grip surface typically unavailable in shorter blade designs. Broad hilts keep the hand from-oversliding onto the blade should the user hit bone in a thrusting maneuver. Lethal, concealable. May be illegal in certain jurisdictions. For Professional and law enforcement use only in dual edge configuration."

Clearly you guys aren't appreciating the brilliance of this design as a self-defense blade. After you whip this baby out, your assailant will be laughing so hard that you'll easily be able to subdue him and/or escape.

Where's the 'tacticlol' thread when you need it?

Bet this one goes on back-order for months after the Klingon Special Forces put in a huge order.

Wait, so this is a smatchet discussion?

I was out-of-line earlier when I recommended a smatchet, i should have recommended a smatchet instead. Sorry everyone!
