Hello,
I don't often beg, but I will this time,
could someone, anyone please post some Dark Ops knives?!?!?
I know most of us E.R. fans are Frank's supporters, and
we would like to see these knives ASAP
so, please, if you have any pics from Blade.
Let me see P-L-E-A-S-E

The Dorkopsknives (not a typo) ad in Blade is hilarious. Piercing Comm-bloc body armor. Cutting through airplane wings. (who planned that mission?) Strategically placed blood grooves control blood spray (how did they test this? Pigs? Sheep? Who calibrated the pigs to be sure blood spray from pigs equalled blood spray from bad guys?). Covert deanimation activities (Pentagonese for "killing quietly"?) HAHA, I thought it was funny. Maybe they are great knives, but what sort of delusional character is writing those ads?

http://www.darkopsknives.com/ website is online but they only have a lot of overheated text, like the ad manowar669 referred to. I'm waiting for the pictures and the specs. Frank's a good guy. If I can forgive Lynn Thompson for his hype, I can forgive Frank Miller! :D

no pics from blade show, i went by their booth and there was nothing! first they said the knives missed fed-x, then they said the ups guy didn't show, then they said the coating set off the bomb detectors and were held up

i think maybe they are just invisable knives made for special ops where it would cause trouble if somebody were to see them :D :D

I don't care what the ad says, if frank stands behind them then I know they'll be great products. He had some serious bad luck at the show with the shipping, but I'm sure he'll get pictures out as quick as possible.

I didn't see anything at the show, either...

They had display cases with sheaths, but no knives. Why ship the knives without the sheaths?

They had literature, all showing the same pics (or lack thereof) as the mag ad.

Maybe the knives don't exist yet and the ad campaign and Blade Show "appearance" was just a publicity stunt to generate some preliminary interest and test the market...???

Darkopsknives..... The Spinal Tap of the cutlery world!!!!

Peace-
Cam

Idahoskunk, all kiddin' aside, FOR REAL?!?!?!? Were those actual SAID things?

On another forum, it was said that the knives were being used in a photo shoot for the Discovery Channel (?)....

Vaporware?

It's all well and good to kid about anothers misfortune at Blade this weekend, but in fairness to Frank, I'll wait patiently for the physical preview of his new line of knives before passing judgement on the quality and ergonomics of the new blades.

It may be a disappointment for all of us not to have been able to see the knives in person and get to fondle them at blade, but imagine how frank feels about it after putting that kind of money into a product that gets waylaid and never shows causing this type of reaction on his new line of knives by the buying public.

Keep on plugging Frank, build a better knife and they will come.

visited the website of the discussed knives. did not care much for the racial innuendos. might as well call them camel-jockey killers. :(

ecmouse:

I didn't get that out of the articles about the different blades coming available soon.

Some hype, but my guess is they will withstand the test of time. I'm in line to get one of the large folders when they are made available to the general public.

yes, they were all said including that the discovery channel had them. i also heard that when the ups box finally showed the knives had been stolen from the box

talk about a streak of bad luck

They told me on Friday that they were out getting thier pics taken and would be back later.I stoped back by Saterday and saw that they were still not there but didn't bother asking about them then.
Seems they spent alot of cash for that booth and display just to show sheaths. Also noticed that not many people were stopping by thier booth.

Seems like it would be easy enough to post pictures on the web site...

Im not too keen on that type of marketing.

Maybe these knives will rock, maybe not, but that ad copy is designed to appeal to 12 year old boys who think it's a shame that they don't make Rambo movies any more.

Piggy back copy of Merxwerks "Mystery" knife grinder Etc.
Generates ALOT of free publicity on places like this.
Cartoon web page does not speak of a professional soldier approach.

There could be few things worse than buying alot of aggressive Ad space in different magazines, renting a very Large booth at BLADE, buying a HUGE Banner to draw attention to your booth and several Large Plastic Display Cases to showcase your product, hiring personnell to man the Booths (in Suits), having interested folks stop by every hour to see these new products and then not have any BLADES to SHOW. IIRC the sheaths were standard Eagle Industries fare.

On Friday I asked the obvious and was told two stories, the UPS story in the morning and later that afternoon the one about the Discovery Channel.

I feel for the guy behind all this, it is not an auspicious start.

The website reads like a parody.

A few choice quotes:

"The handle is made of a low-durometer high tensile aramid composite that is impervious to everything from aviation fuel to Al Qaeda bodily fluids"

"The scales are made of T6160 aircraft grade hardened aluminum, not porous materials that that cannot be decontaminated from bodily fluids or chemical munitions. "

"Strategically placed blood grooves control blood spray in covert deanimation activities. "

"The Blade steel is made from DarkOps proprietary CTV2 steel, an exotic and expensive Hybrid of Chromium, Cobalt, Tungsten, Vanadium, Molybdenum, in an alloy of surgical grade stainless steel. Through hardend to 58 HRC Rockwell with a secondary cryogenic cutting edge hardening, it is a steel that is basically indesructible! [sic] A full quarter inch thick, it is one of the heaviest production blades in existence today."

This is a joke, right? Please tell me it's a joke.

""The handle is made of a low-durometer high tensile aramid composite that is impervious to everything from aviation fuel to Al Qaeda bodily fluids"

Hmmm, is that what they make condoms out of?

Don't forget

"...Our mil-tested handle designs contain ground quartz inserts for maximum grip, aided by substantial finger grooves that orient the knife in the dark...

...Quartz impregnated inserts provide extreme circumstances grip enhancement and are replaceable should decontamination be required..."

So some sand was mixed in....what a bunch of hyperbole.

Sometimes, things are so silly that it is said, "It's real, you can't make up stuff like this". I think this is one of those cases. It has got to be tough making a living writing parady these days.

It is possible for advertising to detract from selling the product.
