Darrel Ralph!

Thanks to all who have responded. I have once again sent an email to Darrel per everones suggestion. I would also like to Thank Darrel for coming into the thread and responding. My initial questions were very basic and very simple, but to me were important.

Question #1...Do you ship to Canada (a lot of makers and companies don't)

Question #2...If you do ship to Canada, can I (living in the US) make the purchase of knifekits and supplies and have them shipped to my friend in Canada instead of me having to re-mail them.

If these questions are answered on your website, I just didn't see it. Again, I'm sorry for any confusion that has arisen from me taking the time to tell of my experiences.

Sir,
In our shipping form that comes up after you order we will need your address for the credit card and then you can select any destination that you want.
YES this is done all the time. A person can order and have the product shipped worldwide and the destination does not have to be the same as the persons who bought the items.

If you EVER have a question about knifekits we have a toll free number listed on our first page under contact information.
We offer live customer support from 12 pm and 12 am.
The phone recording will say Atlanta virtual.com. This is one of our parent companies.
If you get the recording please leave a message. Alex will get back to you as soon as he can.
If that fails please call me direct for customer support at 740-965-9970 .
I am here most of the time. I sleep in the shop office ;). If you get the recording leave a message Ill get back to you as soon as I can get to the message.

I haven't seen a bunch of folks jump in and say "Well, I never bought anything from him, but he responded promptly to my correspondence".

OK, I'll say it. I never bought anything from him, but he responded promptly to my correspondence. Not only that, but he insisted that I come spend three days with him and his family so he could show me how to make custom automatic folders. With his help and guidance I made my very own double-action EDC. I stayed at their house. They fed me. They let me drive their dog crazy. They drove me to and from the airport.

You won't find a finer group of folks than Darrel Ralph and his family.

If you're having trouble getting in touch through email, try picking up the phone and calling before complaining on a public forum. This should be a LAST resort.

Thanks, but since I'm normally working 12 shifts from 7pm-7am or 11pm-11am, I really don't think most business folks would appreciate me waking them up for such a simple question.

The problem was resolved as you can see by Darrels post and my post saying that I had emailed him again. He kindly responded and answered all my questions. Can we please quit beating a dead horse?
If I ever have a question about any maker or business, you can be assured I will not EVER make the mistake of coming to bladeforums to ask it. Apparently my experience and situation was not acceptable to mention on this forum and for that I apologize. There were a few who were sympathetic to the possibility that there had just been a mixup, but the personal attacks via email were uncalled for from anyone of the folks who felt that necessary.

Thanks Again to Darrel for the Help. I am working on my order for knifekits.com right now. You are truly a Gentleman in the way you dealt with my post and my last email. Thank You Sir!

I have never given Darrel any money yet. He is still a great guy and a superb knifemaker.

There are a ton of folks that speak highly of Darrel and money has nothing to do with it.

When I can afford one of Darrel's knives, it shall be. One of the reasons is his willingness to answer E-mails, telephones, and jump into a thread. The other main reason is of course the quality of his work.

Mar,
I just think we got off on the wrong foot.
I am calm oum oum oum!
Lets move on and talk knives.
Thanks to all for the kind words.

It's old news, but my experiences with Darrel's communications and customer service have been routinely outstanding.

Marauder, you say "Apparently my experience and situation was not acceptable to mention on this forum and for that I apologize." I'd like to point out that if you hadn't raised the issue in this forum, Darrel wouldn't have been able to respond.

Reporting a negative experience, as long as it isn't accusatory or inflammatory, is always going to be appreciated by those who genuinely care about their customers. Darrel's reaction, to courteously assist you in resolving the problem, is what you'll get more often than not from the best in the knife community.

Well, okay...
I think that just about sums it up. Not to belabor the point, but it looks like most of you have had similar superlative dealings with Mr. Ralph. I'll continue to be a customer and an admirer of his work.
By the way, Darrel, the phosphor-bronze washers you recommended work great in the Tactical.
Hope to see you at next year's Blade Show!

Fred

Thanks,
Im glad the washers worked out for you.
We are in the process of upgrading the knife to bronze, and the fold over clip!

David, I would not worry about posting here. As long as you think you tried everything else, then posting here is in my opinion alright. This way, you got to state your problem, and Darrel explained all the ways to contact the company. You are no longer left wondering why you were not getting a response, and this thread will be a good reference if anybody else is having trouble.

As for me, I ordered an Arc neck knife from him. It was one of the Camillus factory ones when they first came out. This was back when Darrel used to hang in the chat room and he did talk to me about it quite a bit, and also exchanged a few emails. I would say it was pretty good service for a 20 dollar knife.

Marauder/David;

Please forward the emails you received, along with the senders name, and forum name, so we can deal with this.

Personal attacks will not be tolerated here, and I can assure you of swift action against the individuals involved.

This forum is here to relay your experiences, both good and bad, with dealers, individuals, and makers. Please continue to use this forum as intended.

I'm also sure that Darrel may have missed your original emails, or as he states, they may have been inadvertantly filtered out as spam.
Darrel, as indicated, is one of the most customer service oriented makers I know, and he wouldn't purposely blow anyone off.

Please forward those emails as soon as possible.
