I have sad news to report to the forum. Dave passed away Saturday afternoon. This is a post to his Facebook page by his son Ken:

"Saturday 12/28/2013 at 3:35 pm this great man and great dad took his last breath and passed away peacefully. I love you dad."

I agree, Dave was wonderful person and he will be missed by all who knew him. He was a long time participant on this forum and many of you got to know him well. I talked to him on the phone periodically and touched base via email more often. It doesn't seem like we talked enough now that he is gone.

A big loss for this forum and to those who knew him well.
Dave was a true Buck collector and enthusiast and a fine man. g

Avery big loss,He was a great person and i'm glad he was participating here.He will be missed for sure.Rest in peace Dave...

So sorry to read this. I had pm`d him quite a few times with questions, and he always replied. He will be missed.

I too will miss Dave. I had hoped he was on the mend from his last post, but I see that was not the case. He will be missed....

Always sad when someone passes, particularly sad when they are one of the good ones. From what I have read of the man he was one of the good ones. My condolences to the family and to all of Dave's friends.

Very sad to hear of Dave's passing. My condolences to his family. I'll miss him around here a great deal.

Sad news for Buck Land, seems like I should specially mark this thread but Dave would not have wanted that. As my Texas raised mother would have said "Well, Bless his heart." .

Just beside myself---with disbelief. He was a good friend and we talked much. He is resting where there is no more hospitals, only his favorite fishing stream full of trout. DM

I don't know what to say, but I will miss my friend Dave... Rest in Peace...

Thanks for the update, even though it is terrible news.

I only talked to him a couple times, and knives aside, he was a good guy. R.I.P Dave

I only knew Dave on this forum and I always enjoyed his pictures of his knives. It seemed like he had every model of Buck made. Dave was one of the great people on this forum and I will miss him.

As someone who opts to read instead of adding my own input (I'm a novice) I'll miss Dave's excellent pictures and he always seemed to have an answer or the knife itself whenever some had questions about rare makes and models. Despite never having a conversation with him, his upbeat attitude, even when his health started to go downhill was inspiring. Rest in peace Dave.

Sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family.

I never met him but he was always pleasant and willing to help people. Sad news for sure.

Reading this is like being punched in the gut. Dave has been such a great pal and I will miss him.
