Dave Hallmark aka Plummer Dave

I was hoping that ITE or another friend or family member might have a photo or two of Dave's hard shell buddies. Maybe even a Dave with turtle or tortoise photo. Now that he is gone, unfortunately, much will be lost to us who knew him thru living online.

Had you told me years ago that I would be grieving for a fella I met online I would paid you no mind.

I'm not really sure what to say, still kind of shocked. I really appreciated his input and knowledge about Bucks and he seemed like a nice guy. It's a sad time in Buckland. We will definitely miss you, Brother.

I remember a thread where Dave posted pics of a scrimshaw that he had Mrs. Martin do of his tortoises. They were amazing! I asked a few questions about the tortoises and he shared some pics of his babies, you could tell that he loved them. I went and dug up the thread, here is a link but I figure posting his pics in here would be fitting as well since he was so passionate about them.

Oregon,
Good people are good people where ever you run on to them........

I think it is a fine and good thing if anyone wants to share stories and photos of Dave's Buck and personal interests. Have some special past posts or photo spreads, bring them back for all to remember......300

Bravo 300. Bless your heart.

This place, Bladeforum and all of its sub-forums, is the defacto encyclopedia of cutlery built by all of us including much labor by Dave, is rich in hard-won information in words and images for cutlery enthusiasts past, present and future. I shudder to think of all of that information just going away because someone flips a switch somewhere for some reason, executor, family member, lawyer or host potentate.

My re-hosting of a few of Dave's photos was duel purposed: Honor the achievements of the man and preserve his labor for its intended audience which is every cutlery afficianado here now and into the future (I recoil in horror at the thought that his images could simply disappear arbitrarily). What happens to your online assets when you die? A relatively new area of law that is only just now forming. Here is a link to a mild piece on this issue for your amusement: http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2013/12/02/what-happens-to-your-digital-life-after-death/

What does the future hold for your work/fun here?

Trevytrev you are all right. Thank you kindly. So cool to see Dave's colorful helmets with legs in their habitat. WTG.

Godspeed Dave

I am saddened to read of this obviously real nice guy passing away! 300 Bucks has let us know of his passing in Traditionals.

I come from the Traditional Forum -where there are great people there as well, Dave certainly sounded like one of those good guys!
I think anyone who goes to trouble to help a animal is a special kind of person.

My condolences to Daves family, how lucky you are to have a special person like that in such a major part of your lives.

Very sad news. While I never communicated directly with him I certainly appreciated and enjoyed his contributions of knowledge and photography to us here. Best to his family and friends.

What Duncan said - I just read in Traditional forums.

Sorry to hear about this loss. My condolences to his family and friends. :(

So sad to hear of the loss of Plummer Dave. First day back to the forums in a long while and this was sadly, the first thing I read. Rest in peace.

Wow,,, I am so sad to hear this. Was so hoping they could fix him.

We are at the hunting place and I am just now catching up on the forum.

I also talked to Dave on the phone a few times, but as others have said, it wasn't enough.

I will always value the knife trades we made.

Dave will be missed.
