Dayhike shoulder bag/kit: yet another...

Psy-ops' dayhike gear was so dang similar to my own that I couldn't not post it! Plus I'm off work today watching an awesome movie fest and I enjoy snapping gear pics.. This is just a shoulder bag I keep in the truck for dayhikes, or maybe an impromptu overnight. Like a lot of folks here I prefer to keep a small amount of quality, user-size essentials, rather than a hundred fragments of proper gear. For an overnight I'll likely just add some more food that I normally keep, and maybe a small poly tarp.

You may notice that I've yet to sew on my WSS patches!

No matter what, I'm sure that psy-ops will get a kick out of these!

Thats a really sweet setup Spooky. Love the little 22 pistol too.

Thanks guys!

Talfuchre- Mike nailed it, that's some fatwood on the firesteel. The chapstick actually just holds some PJ soaked cotton balls. Trick that K_Estela mentioned a long while back, easy way to store those (just twist, and you've got more). Between the PJ cotton and the fatwood, it's hard to find an excuse not to be able to get some flames!

The Bic lighter is wrapped in pink flaggers tape, as a last-ditch means of signaling, or as a trail marker. Also makes it easier for me to find my lighter in the pack!

Green bag is just a nylon mil-type poncho, good for rain or as shelter.

Andy- That pistol has been a real treat, Ruger does the .22 right. Very handy trail gun.

Great set-up ,I like it...... I was up late last night stitching on a BF patch to a old camera bag and mounting it to my BK1. I like things simple....Great post Spook

Great setup, and pretty much everything you could need. Even for an emergency extended stay in the woods. The patch will make it an uber-excellent pack though :D

cool setup.

what is the maker/model of that little compass clipped to the strap of the bag?

Sadly I've no idea! I got it as a little present from my boss at Christmas. It's neat though, aside from the compass there's a little 3-position switch: Off, constant-on white LED, and blinking red LED. I always strap it to my fiance's pack when we head out.

Nice setup Will. I love the .22. They are great guns. That first aid kit looks very familiar.....

Thanks amigos!

Very nice,I like the 22/45 and the F1. Do you carry any bug repellant?

That's another item that gets kept in the truck, but not often in the pack. Based on your location, I dare say that some DEET is as essential as gear gets for you! Still a problem up here, but less so in the right areas.

Hey Spooky. How are yo liking that F1?:D

Con grats on your engagement:thumbup:

Hey man! Didn't know you came over this way! How are ya? I'm definitely loving the F1, it's a great little blade. Usin' the crap out of it.

Familiar? What ever do you mean? :p Seriously, yours has made a great base kit. Oh, and our passaround is [finally] on it's way to the next gent in line! Gotta pull up the old thread and update things.

Thanks man. What did you add to your kit, I see a bottle in the bag. Thats cool bout the passaround, I figured you were busy, gettin engaged and all.

Congrats on that bro. Outdoors wedding I presume?

I actually didn't have to add much to your kit at all! I put in a bag of some meds I like to keep (APAP, naproxen, benadryl, etc.), some tincture of iodine, some other bandaids and wound wipes, neosporin, and some saline wound irrigation syringes.

For some reason, when out and about, I always find myself patching people up. I get the occasional cut from doing something stupid with steel, but not much else.

Re: the wedding; we've had kind of a tough time deciding when to have it. Timing is hard because I'm got a year of classes left, so it's either soon or next year. I'm thinking next year though. But we're working hard to do it outdoors! Luckily KY and the horse parks offer a lot of nice spots.

You are right its beautifull there. I did boot there. Goodluck, its gonna get stressfull planing a wedding. Just sit back and enjoy the ride bro! Wound irrigation syringes are a great idea. I will add some to mine....

Ever think of adding a slightly larger blade? Just curious why you only have a small bladed knife, most people carry a larger one for chopping and such and a smaller for more tedious tasks.

Very nice kit though, what bbl length is the pistol?
