Dude! That looks so classy. Very nice combo.

I think the LEs are .270" thick, and the CGs & DCs are right at .250" thick... but I'd have to measure them again to be sure.
Definitely the fatties of the group. :D

The LEs are notably heavier in feel to me. Really wish I had bought more of the CGs. The DC & CG feel about the same to me.

As for my preference... CG & DC for less weight and overall feel of them. DC for lack of coating... and CG for the canvas micarta.

I haven't beat any of them yet... was planning on using an LE, but liked the CG better. I'll probably strip the CG and make it my beater. I got the DC with black & red G-10 just because it looked so damn nice! :D :D

Right on!!!

I don't personally know about the CG's but my LE is a convexed heavy some beach!!! Yeah, so what if I am drinking the 101:p

Well yes I did but there is plenty more where that came from:thumbup::cool:;):D Dang smiley faces:D

If you take the CG and strip them and then polish out the grind marks with a sander and give it a fully convex edge you have one VERY well balanced knife....easily able to be used as a machete...not too heavy at all IMO...and a good trainer for the KZ!

I am all for this idea. My main concern is stripping the coating. Never done that before. Is the coating under the handles also???

Thanks guys! Personally I would rather just pic up a CG, strip it, convex it and beat the crap out of it. Much cheaper also:D

Stripping them is easy... Just use a little ez-strip from your loacl hardware store.
You don't need to worry about the coating under the handles, or getting the stripper on the micarta.
Not sure about G-10 though.

There were (and still are) a lot of INFI dimples in my FFBM...
too much for me to sand out by hand, so I've left them.
The primary bevel was almost satin... not dimple at all.

I have the feeling with the NMFBM being full convex with a meltdown treatment,
there won't be much work at all to get them pretty decent looking.

Here's what she looked like after some sanding...

And after a good winter season of splitting & chopping.

That looks great! I bet you really like it because of the work you put into it also! You talked me into it. I am going to find a CG and strip it. Probably put it right to the belt sander for the edge and see where I go from there. If it is a user I don't really care if the finish is not perfect satin. Thanks again:)
