You've got to remember that the LEs are full height convex ground and simply orgasmic on a full swing into green wood. Aaaaahhhh...

I thought a CG would be full convex with minimal work on a belt sander. Are you saying that I am confused? It is very possible and likely BTW:D

I'm just saying it would be easier to get it convex in the beginning. Wearing a CG down to full convex would give you a lighter, thinner blade if that is what you are after.

That actually is what I am after:thumbup:;)

It will also help to keep my beast of a blade LE pristine. I reprofiled my FBMLE and it is far superior to original...far superior. With the LE there is no room for improvement...therefore...anything that I do, in my mind, will be a move backwards.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the CGs are full convex also.

Just don't have that zero edge that the LEs have...

.

Either way, when I put a nice convex edge on my FBMLE the only difference I noticed was an extreme increase in performance  I did not notice any consequential difference in weight or balance:)

Show off you did! It makes me want to pick up a CG FBM also:barf::D

if you find one you have the kaching, buy one and beat it. Lots of people use Le's. Why not. Who cares if it is rare, just use it.

Posted these before, but this is what the BLK/BLK NMFBM looks like stripped...

I had dimples on one side and some grind marks on the other...no two are the same though...you can get smoother finishes than I found...it's just pot luck...

Took mine to the belt sander and by the time I had removed the grind lines using a slack belt method and a magic marker on the blade to determine consistant stock removal....the edge was a full convex one and truly awesome.

Take a hint tho from having then taken it to be bead blasted....use that edge up for at least a good week's worth of use take get the best out of it...the bead blasting blunts the edge considerably and it takes a little while to strop it back using a leather paddle and compound...you cannot use a full contact slack belt for a quicker restoration of the edge as this simply would remove the bead blasting....you could tho use the sander to give the full convex edge a slight secondary bevel...however I preferred to keep the full convex grind and brought the edge back using a leather strop...however once it is restored you have a great looking knife at a lot cheaper price than the BBDC factory prices being offered on the exchange...

After some hard use....and a few more stroppings....
