Good grief people - he is being sarcastic. I don't blame him.

thanks for catching the fact that OP again brought the Drama.. I have a hundreds plus more events in the exchange and never seen his "issues". check out his ITRADE, he NEVER mentioned any problems there.. Seems very odd everything is great in ITRADES, but terrible here. DRAMA ???

When I made the post I was frustrated about a number of things. First was the monetary loss I had put up with over the past half year, including my most recent transaction at the time where I purchased a knife for $500 and when I relisted it disclosing its myriad firing issues, did not even sell for $280. I ended up spending over $150 just to get that knife repaired and had to replace both the blade and the firing button. Now I cannot resell the knife at all because not only do I have over $650 into the knife but since the knife was disassembled (voiding warranty) and has several non-original parts at this point (precluding factory repairs), I don't think I could even get $200 if I sold it here since I would be obligated to disclose all these facts when I list it - it's now a knife that's more trouble than it's worth.

Meanwhile in the thread users are digging up my old posts to demonstrate that I was a hypocrite for not being as detailed in my sales posts as I asked others to be. I was and still am learning what aspects of a knife might have problems that might go unnoticed/undisclosed, so of course I did not cover every single base in some of my old posts. Then other users talked about how nitpicking condition is killing the spirit of the knife community, while my post was clearly about mechanical issues and severe cosmetic problems, not miniscule details. Others doubted what I said about my experiences because I didn't bring up the issue before in the feedback forum; at the time I did not know better and I observed newer members being quickly ruled against when there were disputes.

All this while many other paying members put up listings every day that say nothing but a cursory "used", "excellent" etc.

I admit that it may not have been the most appropriate post but at the time I was very frustrated. I have since moved on.

Maybe I am missing something here?

The 'seller' has the obligation to represent his product truthfully and to describe that product as accurately as possible, and to disclose any issues they are aware of.

The buyer should always ask questions, but that does not supersede the sellers duty to be as honest and open about the condition of the item they are selling.

I agree. The seller needs to describe exactly hes selling. Any problems no matter how big or small need to be listed. Yea the buyer should also make sure he asks enough questions and receives answers before he buys, but i think the buyer has to be responsable and honest when selling a knife and describe every problem with the knife evan if it is something small most people wouldnt notice it still needs to be listed.
