I finished cataloging my knife collection on a spreadsheet so I can sort by different specs such as blade length, steel, weight, etc. Sorted by acquisition date below. Things you do when you’re bored, LOL.

I have very much the same spreadsheet. One thing I have and need is a cost basis for each knife and when purchased.

I'm not that ambitious but GREAT JOB!

All that I do in my spreadsheets is sort by: 1) date of purchase, 2) description by maker/model 3) type (auto/bali/fixed/folder) and cost.

This is the basic info that I need to keep track of what I've got and what I spent on it, which is enough for me.

Been there with hundreds of knives but no sorting. They are mostly gone.

Enjoy it, May sell a few that I don’t particularly care for. Have my eye on a Mnandi but finding one is always the challenge.

I plan on doing this soon, as I want my family to be able to know what I've got, and to help them navigate BladeForums to sell in the event I die or become a vegetable.

Plus I enjoy fondling my knives, so this will create another opportunity to pretend cut stuff.

Nice!! I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who has done this.mine is quite as organized and detailed though.I have mine saved in my notes on my iPhone.every time I buy a new knife one of the first things I do is add it to my list..I used to even have a list for knives I planned on buying but after a few months I realized I rarely ended up actually buying those knives.I would pretty much always find other knives I decided I wanted more..lol

Good job. I did something like this a couple years ago, so I would have an expandable file on all my knives that I could keep updated, including every detail that I could find. It helps a lot when knives are discontinued and vanish from the websites you buy them from.
