I'm located in San Diego and was thinking of making the trip to Venture for Cold Steels Fall sale. I'm unsure if it will be worth my time though. The fact that cold steel marks up their products so high makes me think that even at a closeout price their deal will not be that good. I bought some rajahs 1s and Black rhinos during there online close out sale which i found to be a great deal. So for anyone who has attended in the past. How are the deals? what kind of stuff do they usually have? please post any descriptions or pics of any good deal you have received.

I haven't been there, but almost nothing is worth braving LA traffic.
Take the train if you go.

I've been going for ten years ... normally in the spring ... didn't know there was a fall sale.

As far as deals it depends on what you are looking for.

The new popular models aren't really marked down that much.

Sometimes you can find the stuff cheaper online.

The discontinued stuff, seconds and returns are where the deals are.

It used to be real relaxed but now is a little more serious.

If you want the new Tri-Ad folders you better get there early.

People will just pick up things that they might not buy, trying to make a decision and then set it down later.

So you need a plan to get what you want.

be early and be ready to buy. I've been going to the parking lot sales since they started, I get the feeling that the older stock/2nds are running low. the very first sale they had, there were just tons of good stuff at cheap price. The last one I went to had a emphasis on the new stuff, but the swords still had very good deals to be had. again, you gotta be fast and be ready to buy, you snooze, you will lose.

Make sure you watch plenty of Cold Steel videos before you go! I'm sorry, but the one of LT shooting a 15 pound piece of meat with a .357 magnum AND THEN chopping it with a Gurkha Kukri is just too good not to share.

I went to the spring lot sale earlier this year, and I wrote a post about the spoils I collected while there.

The factory-seconds table is the reason to go. You can get tons of discontinued and higher-end knives for dirt cheap. I ended up getting over $1,000 worth of Cold Steel for far, far less. But that table is usually the first one to get cleared out, so unless you're driving in from San Diego early enough to be first in line in Ventura (i.e. 1:00 AM accounting for distance -- so doubtful) you're probably better off buying from Lynn Thompson's Special Projects website.

HAHAHAHA, where can I find that!?!
