Email sent on the Vim baby crow. I'll take my chances, Sarge. :D

Dang it, got it right before my own resolve melted. :( ;) Looks pretty light and quick in the hand at 13" and 11 ounces. I'd oval out that guard, don't like sharp corners anywhere near my hand, but that's just a few minutes work with a file and sandpaper. About that Yin Yang symbol (apologies if I've misnamed/mispelled it), I'd tell people it represented the eternal struggle between good and evil, the same struggle that had me trying to decide whether to buy 'em a beer or gut 'em like a fish. Aaaargh.:D :D

Is it just me, or does that thing not belong in a mountain man style sheath with fringe and beads and all the gee gaws?

Whoosh (wiping sweaty forehead)...thanks Bladite. Seriously. And you deserve it- I know you've been looking for one, and that is a NICE example. Good lines, a little hefty like I like 'em.

heh, it'll be my replacement for the foxy folly... until the proper foxy folly for me comes along (the next one the kamis make i hope)... i wibbled on it for as much as 5 seconds :) would've preferred standard bolsters, but the handle length, weight, overall length, and lines are very nice-ah.

i tried for the YCS after more though - i figured i could work it out and add a small mora of of SF's knives and an S1 or even one of the HI knives like that ;) nice. someone beat me. good for them. YCS not in my future yet.

whee, happy to save your wallet,

I'd have to agree. Sure as hell looks like a Bowie to me.

Just curious, where the Tarwars (is it the straight sword?) have typically a point of balance?

Hmmm.... That got me thinkin' I'll dig out the leather tools again. I even have a bead loom (home-made, of course) somewhere. I also have a big slab of rawhide... Oh, no, now you've got me going:D

Bri, I've long been a fan of Karen Shook, the gal that does sheaths and stuff for Daniel Winkler. Her work just has an "aura" about it;

Wow! I am impressed with that rig.:D

Me Too!!!!  :D I love Karen's work and Daniel Winkler's knives!!!! I sometimes really wish I could work part time doing something so I could get a few nice customs but then wonder what the hell I'd do with 'em besides set and slobber over 'em and then wipe 'em down with Ballistol. ;) :D

Baby Crow knife still around? That's interesting. I thought it would be among the first to get sharked selling at the same price a Kumar Karda normally goes for. Reckon I must be out of touch. It's unfortunate that Vim made that one Crow knife with a wobbly blade, folks remember that kind of stuff. Still, I've got a big old Udda sword Vim made that's as straight as any of my arrows, so I know that crooked crow knife must have just been an oopsie. I'd best shut my mouth and shove off before I'm tempted to buy the durn thing myself. Believe me that bowie style blade and bird's head grip could easily tempt me. ;)

Sarge

Sarge, I'm sorry if I contributed to that perception; well, I know I did, but that was the fact at the time. I can say that others don't seem to have had my luck, and I have since received two larger blades from Vim that are straight as an arrow and very well done. As you say, it was just an oopsie I guess. I can say I wish I had snagged this one instead, but I'm still working on the original and we'll see how it turns out.

LOL! I know just what you mean Yvsa! Like I'm really ever going to put some of my safe queens to hard use. But hell, that's half the fun ain't it? :D

Norm, an honest man telling the truth ain't got nothing to be sorry about. I just tossed out what I did because I know from experience how long folks can hold a bad batch of chili against a feller, even though they know he most often gets it right. ;)

Tried and missed on a couple, thank God! What was I not thinking? Oh, I know, how to pay for it!
...
I sold off my 18" and two 21" Gelbus last year, the 21's by Sher, but that one really had me going. I could just see that light colored wood handle refinished in a darker stain and tru-oiled.
Congrats on whoever got them, and thanks. :D
Norm

yar. the gelbu came in. pretty piece. aunt yangdu informs me that the handle is "white neem" :> so now i have a kobra at 20" and a gelbu at 21" both neemed, but dark and light :)

this is ONE stout knife kids. came hella sharp too. i don't have the pleasure of getting quite so many blades as y'all, but the few i gotten lately from HI, have been fairly well sharp out of the box. woo. my small GRS of a-while-ago came so-so sharp and was touched up fast; i've only had to work on one a lot, and it's hella sharp NOW :) but that was a known blem and i was looking forward to that work. dunno what they're doing differently to get the sharp on, but i like it :)

counting down the "must haves" :)

I like that Gelbu. Thought about it and bought the Tarwar.

I had some fun chopping on some dead trees in the backyard.

I showed it to my 3 yr old daughter and she said. "Wow, are you going to kill the Huns when they invade?"

I think she's been watching Mulan to much.

Eric.
