Yangdu, is that Balance model at 18" really only 19 ounces? Wow.

munk

My thought exactly Munk. Looks identical to mine which was 28 oz. If so that would be very manueverable. My first instinct was that that "1" should be a "2". ? Nice knife in any case.

And an engraved 14" YCS karda for the exact price the first regular ones went for? Great deal.

Those antler scrimmed R-6's crack me up. This is the 4th one. First was $95 with the scrimmed fishies and beautiful and of course I couldn't resist. Then $70, then $65, now $55! This is the best of the R series IMO and too good a deal to pass up at this price.

And finally, a beautiful 13" Villager from Ram for... $45!!

Which Uddha did you get? Two great knives in just 5 posts is good work. :)

That is without a doubt one of the best Ganga Ram's I've seen. I like that it has a wider rather than pointier tip!

I myself prefer the pointier khuks. I have several BGRs with nice pointy blades. What is terrific with Himalayan Imports khuks/knives is that everyone can find whatever he/she prefers. :)

Bura's signature model for sure. He is on autopilot with these. Don't recall seeing many from him in Neem though. I have two like this in antler and chandan. Both 17.25" exactly and both 27 oz. Except for once that I know of he always uses the habaki bolster.

That karda is way cool. Is that the biggest one that's been offered so far? Can't wait to get the one I bought yesterday.

There have probably been about 12-15 14" YCS Kardas. IIRC Sweet (natch) got the very first one in smooth neem wood and posted about it with pics. Since then there have been a few smooth handled ones, but most have been carved chandan. The first few came with these scabbards, then a few came with sheaths and now we are back to the scabbards, which is a better deal for the big ones. I think this might be the first engraved one though, as well as the first with this wood in this size, and as I mentioned it is coming in at the same price as the original unengraved 14" models.

I have a nice smooth one with "dab dabe wood" (beats me), and a couple of carved ones in this size. The one I seem to go for most though is a "little" 9.5" 7 oz. one with smooth polished horn that is just the perfect all round size. I have to see about trying to get leatherface to make a sheath for it as he did for Steve, as that is about the only thing that could be improved upon.

I'm sure you'll like the one you snagged. 11" or so is a great size, and bigger than you would ever get with the YCS.

One day I'm gonna get me a YCS karda. I've got a YCS, but the trade came without the kardas. I'm reworking it now, btw, and its turning out to be a stunner. Duh. It was a stunner from the start really, but I mean its really lookin good.

The pics of engraved blades from HI & the carved handles of these YCS Kardas are really impressive. Patience, I say to myself. It'll be here by Tues...I was on the phone with Yangdu yesterday literally as she was leaving to mail my blade. Grassroots, real people, family run, rightous customer service.
Rare product, rare scene indeed.
Thanks for the Karda info, Shavastar:thumbup:
