Deals for 9/10 -- Pix Bonecutter, TDC, TTC and Awesome Buys

When She Who Will Be Obeyed tells you to fit in that doghouse, you will, by golly, fit, as often she is quite right in saying it a perfect fit, they have that knack, you know....

Yes my wise friend, you are correct. It appears you may have been there once upon a time. I presume you're a quick learner. I'd like to believe I am as well however, I seem to get a thrill out of tempting fate.

I surely wish to see your cow-cleaver in hand when it arrives....a truly awesome blade which oughta have you looking at anything heftier with a jaundiced insouciant aire...whilst eating Taco Bell in a dog house three sizes too small, for a hat...hard to look tough while doing that but the Bonecutter will save the day....

That's my pass phrase for accessing an empty bank account.

And him already knowing it would go a long way towards explaining why your account is empty....good thing he doesn't know that mine is "no password allowed" or i would be in same boat as you.........oh, darn!...did i just DO that?!.....i HATE it when i do that!.......Nurse!!! Happy pill, please?....

mntgunr, you paint a wonderful picture for the minds eye. Certainly more accurate than not, much to my chagrin. If I could add, the Chihuahua would still be a resident even though in a hat. It may seem harsh, lest you realize, her first choice was to wear it..... Well, I will just say, elsewhere.

In any case, i am sure this incomer will cure the wantitis for a big ol' knife for a spell....heck, my tin chirra kinda did that but i DO want an M43 or full tang Ang Khola.....i suspect the M43 will get the nod to keep things sane....i do have a tarwar already, and it is quite a lopper in its own right....but am rather smitten with the tin chirra and learning how to drive it in order to discover what it really does....there is a lot of classic element to it showing even in old ones, such as the fatter front end of handle, and i wish to find out why, there surely must be an advantage hiding in there somewhere....

Same with your large knife....a new world awaiting discovery....

Hi,

I'm unfamiliar with this specific DOD system, but am wondering if the knives not labeled as sold are still available and at these prices? I would be interested in purchasing one.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum sniarb! I'm sure theres a sticky or something somewhere, but to summarize, sold means sold, no sold means it might be there.

Generally Auntie is pretty good about marking things sold, but she is always very busy. The polite thing us forumites do, is comment, "EMS for xxxxxxx," meaning email sent, then again comment "DD" for done deal, if we get the knife. Often the blade was stealth sharked and is long gone, and every once in a while Yangdu will have another one in stock, or a very similar model.

The best thing to do with DOD posts, when you see one you like, is look through the replies. No mention of the blade in question, go ahead and shoot an email asking if it's still available. If you see someone post an EMS and DD for the blade you were eyeing, well, you may be outta luck, but if you realyyyy want it, I'd still email Auntie and just ask if she has anything similar. As I said, she often has more than one of a model she posted.

As for this particular post, the only blade not mentioned in comments is that Hasiya. If I had to guess, I'd say it's long gone (sharp steel disappears quick round these parts), but it can't hurt to ask Yangdu if that's the one you were lookin at.

Hope that helps! :)

Generally prices good only on that knife....when you spot one, email immediately and then post here as a courtesy, then wait for answer....generally whether marked sold or not, they go quickly, Dear Yangdu unable to sit at computer waiting for sales to dribble in and then mark sold, especially on later sales.....short answer, email regarding particular DOTT and particular knife....posting here is last thing you do.

IT'S ARRIVED! 20" and 45oz. of beautiful Nepali craftsmanship. I wish I could post some pictures but, try as I might I can't. I only have a mobile device and for some reason it refuses to upload to the HI site. It is a brute but, it balances far better than I thought it would and not as nose heavy as I thought it would be as well. The handle is big enough for a good two handed grip, something I will not be shy to use when needed. Absolutely, great work by Purna, it has the Kami mark of a Dhaka topi and the script does not seem to match the script on my Purna CAK. After playing with it a bit, I can't imagine how Umi swings a 25" 67oz. MAK, this is certainly enough for me and then some. As mntgunr described it as a "cow cleaver", I can't disagree. I hope to figure out the picture issue soon. My darling bride is a computer wiz, something I'm definately not. However, I'm sure there is no need to explain why I won't be asking for her assistance any time soon with regards to this matter.

Yep we need pics, would be rude not to :) You can upload the photos to photobucket or similar website. Then copy the link to the picture. Then click the little picture icon when your typing your reply, and paste the link to the picture in there. Should work.
Now we expect pics :D

Sounds like Purna Sankher is a different kami than Purna.

18 inch 36 ounce Bonecutter by Purna Sankher Kami. Chirwa style satisal wood handle. White metal fittings.
Purna Sankher made the Bonecutter knife with Sgt. Khadka years back and he is a great Kami.
His trade mark sign in hat Nepali topi. ..

Yes Steve, I've gathered that at this point. I'm kinda new here and don't know the Kami's last names.

I'll clarify that I wasn't being sarcastic, this is the first I realized there was another kami named Purna. I wasn't paying much attention when Yangdu first mentioned him, but after your post about the different script, I looked back at what she had written and I had an "aha" moment.

I also looked back at the photo of your knife, and it looks like a fine example. Congrats!

Steve, I didn't take your response that way at all. We're all good. Thanks for the feedbacks and compliments.

I had an aha moment too, I saw hat symbol and though no way Renee, he's bull head. Is there really enough room in the world for two Purna's.

I think so for sure.
