Dean El Diablo and Paul Long sheath....together at last!

This thread leaves me with these questions. Does Harvey Dean not make sheaths, or did this particular knife not come with a sheath? Are his sheaths not up to the quality of his knives?

Harvey makes a decent leather sheath, but certainly not up to Paul Long's standards.
Now Harvey makes an extraordinary metal ornamental sheath. I'm sure you have seen them. Jerry makes a heck of a metal sheath.

There's not that many knife makers IMO, that can make excellent leather sheaths.

Tim Hancock, Larry Fuegen, Joe Keeslar, Ed Caffrey and even Steve Filicietti can make sheathmaker quality sheaths. I'm leaving out a few I'm sure.

This knife did not come with a maker-provided sheath, Keith.

Kevin, you left out Burt Foster....Dusty Moulton makes a very, very nice sheath, so does Nick Wheeler....and I mean sheathmaker quality work.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Yep, don't know how I left Burt out. Sorry Burt. Like I say there's probably a 1/2 dozen or so more. Not familiar with Nick's sheaths. Seen Dusty Moulton's, quite good. I've seen and handled Sfreddo's sheaths that I liked and some I didn't like.
But IMO, both Larry Fuegen and Joe Keesler are skilled enough to make a good living making sheaths if they were not knife makers, not sure about the others. The Fuegen sheath in Keith's avatar is as fine a sheath as I have ever seen.

This is just my opinion of course; there's a lot of folks that made a good sheath, some that make a very good sheath but then there's Paul Long, Chris Kravitt, Chuck Burrows, Larry Fuegen, Joe Keeslar, Kenny Rowe and I would even put Tim Hancock in there as he makes quite a few basic sheaths, but can give you anything you want.

STeven, I think you done well. A terrific set that would have me thinking about a display case.

Ron Newton is a pretty good sheathmaker, one of his many talents!
