Dear Benchmade,

It looks like there is some good discussion going on here. I'm actually a Benchmade fan and have been a customer since they opened their doors. I do have my opinions though and think that any company can improve.

An orange g10 Grip would be great. I would also love to see a blue model as well as the ever popular black.

I would also like to see a G10 option on the Griptilian as the plastic handle is its one weakness. The handle on my other Benchmade, a Ruckus, is amazing.

Lots? Less than 1% of their entire line is far from lots buddy. Didnt think we were taking fixed blades into account, my bad. Im pretty sure only 1 folder (out of HUNDREDS, 99% of their product) as previously stated.

Hey, as long as any company that uses it gives Spyderco the credit they deserve, than I dont see any problems. If anyone disagrees with that than please put me on ignore because I think your a Meany poo :(

Sincerely, a Spyderco fan boy.

if we are getting really technial, it's three or four folders.
but as all but one of those are balisongs, where a thumb hole isn't much use (and where would you put it?), only one is missing it where there could be one.
even thier newer fixed blades have a small hole.

and personaly, I would doubt that the courts would uphold a complaint against the spyderhole as a trademark. because it is one of several different ways to acheive the same result (thumb studs, thumb disks, flippers ect)

Funny....I used to be a big Spyderhole fan, then I noticed that often in haste my thumb would just glide right over it, whereas a properly positioned thumb stud (or top disc, even better) gets it open every time.

I agree about the sharpening, you're going to to do it anyway, but you shouldn't have to on a brand new knife.

I find the type of G10 or FRN more important than whether it is G10. Some G10 feels as plastic-y as Griptillian plastic.

And ... since we're 'bringing back' the AFCK.. I was always fond of the TSEK. Great all around knife, sorry to see it go.

Ah, but then you actually have a result. Other than brand recognition, a trademark does not provide a result. There are no trademarked studs, disks, or flippers. Not even the wave is trademarked, it is patented. Why, because they are all functional.

That is the problem, it IS one of several known ways to perform the function. The mere fact that there is a function is a deciding factor.

Dear Benchmade,

The knives you make with thumbstuds should be more ergonomic. On most of your models, there is very little space between the handle and stud, making not as effortless as it could be.

For most models, all it would take is a little grinding out of the handle to make access to the thumbstud easier.

Also, EVERY clipped folder should be drilled for tip-up/down and right/left carry.

The knife handles tend to be thick-most of them over 1/2". I know you have some models with thinner handles, but I would like to see more EDC carry knives with thin handles in your lineup.

Drill outthe liners to save weight. It's these little touches that make a good knife great.

I prefer thumb studs to a hole in the blade (no matter what shape it is  ).

The TSEK was one of the best large folders ever and I much prefer it to the AFCK.

You're just using them incorrectly.

Run you're thumb down the blade/handle groove, contact the thumbstud, and keep moving the thumb forward.

Dear Benchmade,

You will have many more loyal customers and see your profits increase if you
1. Bring back the AFCK
2. Offer the Griptilian in G10
3. Start using more flat grinds
4. Do away with most thumb studs and use holes...you know like spyderco?
5. Actually sharpen the knives you sell so your customers don't have to sharpen their new knives.
6. Stop using hollow grinds....forever
7. Offer the Axis lock on every knife you sell
8. Offer a better selection of steels

Did I miss anything fellas?

Only pay attention to # 2

Why would you want them to "copy" spyderco and use more holes? If you like the hole buy a spyderco

Nice we have a lot of choices for sure. I rotate between a min-grip and my Para right now and the oversize hole in the Para (for me) is superior for quickness. Do I dislike my grip? No way, the axis lock is genius. I don't mind the scales, but give me G10 for durability and thin profile and I'd by a couple more grips.

More flat grinds and lose the little choils they just snag on string and cloth,I'd have a lot more benchmades if they weren't there.
