Long island iced teas for me today. The wife is joining in on the fun so whiskey was out the question she says.

Anyone here ever enjoy a little absinthe? We havent ordered a bottle in a good while but once in a green moon we can really have a blast with the green fairy.
 
My wife won't drink anything other than sweet fruity drinks. I don't think I could get her to drink whiskey if my life depended on it.

As a matter of fact I had a nice bottle over the summer. It's back to being legal for sale so I had to try it.
Don't get your hallucinatory hopes up, though. It is made from the original recipe with the same thujone content that is the psychotropic ingredient. Those guys who were tripping off it were also eating hashish bon bons and smoking opium.
My research showed that you would need to drink about 25 gallons of the stuff to have the slightest hallucinations.
But at 138 proof it packs a wallop and is a unique buzz.

I order from overseas when ever we do get it, but we dont hallucinate off it, anymore than a big left hander makes me hallucinate.

Its different..... but very enjoyable IMO. My wife really likes it too. We can get a little crazy "together" on those nights... But it cost us over 100 per bottle for the better stuff so its a rarity, couple times a year or so.
 
Gonna drown my sorrows from the Gator loss in a bunch of rum and dash of Coke.

I've always wanted to try it but never found the stuff that is supposed to make you see sh*t. Be disappointed if all those hopes and dreams of hallucinating were false

When you find a bottle let me know :D

In my younger years I had experimented with quite a few things i should not have, but most the things labeled as a hallucinogen give people the wrong idea, colors are brighter, more pronounced, things appear to be moving some, but as far as pink elephants and the devil riding a unicorn... that is BS!!! Absinthe in a way does increase visual experiences, so i guess in a way it is a hallucinogen, but that word gives the wrong idea to most.

I bought a bottle of absinthe once to make a Sazerac cocktail, but have never tried it straight up. How do you drink it; on the rocks?

Started the evening with a bourbon and coke before dinner, then shared a pitcher of Margaritas at a Mexican place with our new neighbors. Now it's back to the bourbon.

hmmm ... rocks? ... w/ginger ale? ... w/ cola? ... w/iced tea? ... decisions, decisions...
 
The first glass we normally drink it traditionally with cold water dripped over sugar. After that its just poured in small amounts in the glass over ice. Its a strong drink when you dont use water.

So, in one word, what you're saying is....shrooms. Gotcha. I want to see the damn devil riding a damn unicorn



On a side note, this sucks. My tolerance is getting higher again. Getting buzzed takes too much work anymore
 
Popped the cork on my bottle of George Dickel 14 yo single barrel (#78/145) that I picked up at the distillery earlier this week while I was out in TN. :D It is from the 2nd barrel they've ever offered of this stuff, so I had the privilege of signing the barrel it came from which will be on permanent display in their gift shop! :cool:

It is certainly different than I had expected. VERY, VERY smooth stuff. Reminds me a little bit of an Islay Single Malt. Will definitely be savoring this bottle slowly!!!

They had shirts there that made me laugh. They said, "If you only know Jack, you don't know Dickel!" :p
 
Been working on this the past 2 days



Just making a small batch of salsa and drinking. Tastes good, but I'll admit, doesn't get me buzzed like the Glenlivet 15 I worked on before this
