Death in the prairie (or this tree makes me frisky)

Hi all,

Ken how are ya? Well LOL the sleeping puppy got her rest and so did I:D. We had a about a 1.5 hour walk/hike today. Then got to making knives. I got your knife in the oven now. Oh it is sweet:thumbup:. That 5/32" thickness just feels good in my hand even with out the scales on it. Kathy all ready told me she wants one but way smaller LOL
I did mine up in a roach belly style. I like the continual curve.

Have you been thinking of a name for it yet?
Kathy said that it is a sweety pie of a knife. She thinks Sweetie pie
would make a good name:eek:. LOL

Chat with you later,

Bryan

Great photos kgd.
I can't wait to see this latest collaboration.

Kgd, when you come across winter-kill deer, do you ever crack the femur bone to check the marrow? We used to do this in New England to see if the deer died from starvation or was killed by some other causes, then be able to report it to the local ranger for deer studies of feed lots. The marrow of deer that have died of starvation is a very different color from that of healthy deer killed by poachers just stealing the hind quarters or deer killed by other animals.

Winter kill deer are a huge problem in the spring around here. You can just about guarantee your dog will pick up a bone everytime you go out from March through about May or so. Last year my Bassett picked up a nasy bacterial infection from a deer bone and just about needed surgery on his guts. We were finally able to cure it using drugs, but it was a hard (and expensive) battle.
