Punk909's is my favorite so far too. Nothing like a curly piece of burl wood.
 
These custom shop pieces are something else! I can see why Amy was slack jawed. There hasn’t been a single bag that I wouldn’t be completely satisfied with. The shop really knocked it out of the park this year. Kudos to all those who posted their sweet scores today, and to the other lucky hogs who got their shipping notification today, as well.

Ordinarily I’d be right there with you CD, and Punk909’s IS one of the most handsomely figured wood handles I’ve seen from the shop.:thumbsup:

I also have to say, although some of Busse’s burls are impressive, the typical combinations of G-Rexed handle components rarely make me look twice—for me, G-10 just doesn’t fit with most natural materials.

That said, the bold—and at the same time tailored—presentation of solid deep-red G-10 with whatever those components are on your knife is just stunning. For me it’s one of those rare examples that rise to the level of art. Bold as blood. Subtle as pinstripes. Drop-dead gorgeous.

I am blown away—and super jealous!:eek::eek::eek::D:D:D:cool::cool::cool::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

The newer blades have been spectacular, but I would love to see something truly old school pop up! Maybe a 1/300 SHBM in my bag? Or even a little newer, like a SARGE LE or original TG?!?

My shipping notification did come in, and it looks like The Bag will land early next week while work is closed... so I have "two weeks" of living vicariously through the posts here :)

To be 100% honest I am not 100% sure what that material is on mine. I'm pretty sure it isn't G10 but at the same time I am not completely convinced that it is canvas either. The grain seems tighter than I am used to seeing on canvas micarta. It looks just like the material that is used on a lot of carburetor heat insulators. Almost like maybe a linen micarta.
 
Whatever it is, it’s amazing with those other materials. Is the arrangement of the materials—the “grain” or “stack” of the materials—fairly well-matched on both sides of the handle?

Yes it is. The wood layers are a perfect match from side to side. I made a separate thread with up close photos. Maybe one of the fellow hogs can shed some light on it.

Just to remind everyone "Grab Bags" are something I never see who get's what. I saw all of the awesome stuff that YOU ALL are posting and SUPER JEALOUS. However not enough time in a day in BusseLand BUT I did see stuff that That I DROOLED over (Before the Blind Boxing) LUCKY:D:D LUCKY is all I have to say.

That explains the delay for my bags. Drool removal takes a while. ;) Take all the time that you need. :thumbsup:
 
Another of the “Noir Twins.” The AR certainly dwarfs the FHFG. It’s quite The Beast.
