Decided to stop buyng knves

If you wear the same watch everyday, it might as well be a nice one.

I myself only wear a $450 watch, but i'm not going for the image that comes with a Rolex.

I only own the Rolex now. I see what you mean.

As far as carbon steel, the spacer on my Burn is carbon steel. I love the gradual darkening of an EDC.

The pieces I've seen you buying lately would make me quit buying too...super nice stuff, but my wallet is crying while I'm typing about it :D

I have a bunch of knives, but I can't bring myself to spend over $200 on anything anymore...it's just not worth it. BUT...I get to keep getting some new pieces here and there...luckily I have enough in my collection now that I keep getting pickier about my newer acquisitions.

I give away probably 1 of 3 pieces that I buy now, but they surely arent customs, nor would I let them live in a glovebox...my dad told me that he let the S60V Blur Blem I gifted him live in his Harley and I gave him a rash.

The thought has occured to me on more than one occasion, however, I remember how bad I wanted that Submariner and no matter how bad things get I think it will be the last item to part with. But, I sure could buy a lot of nice things if I sold that two tone Submariner.

Esp a Sea Dweller, now that Rolex stopped making them.

I have not bought one all year. Mostly due to the unemployment thing.
But I just had to have a Cold Steel Large Espada. Just had to!
So that is all I have bought this year. I suspect that is it for awhile.

good choice, great knife

I am pretty much that I am very content with my collection, and only plan on buying knives that I DO have on order. Other than that, I don't have plan to buy any more knives. Unless something special comes up, like what happened my Sal Manaro knife; which is a knife that I had wanted for a long time, and had given up on ever getting. I feel grateful to have it now. I am very happy with my collection. And I have no plans to buy anything. I HAVE been iin this mind set for awhile now.

Something special came along last night. A Ferrkd Emerson Commander for $400. Had to.

Yeah, despite all the CS criticism, this is one really nice knife. Quite happy with it, and it is now my edc, for awhile anyways. I do keep an Al Mar Eagle Ultralight on me so as not to freak out the sheeple. Even the large Espada is quite an eyeful.

I just hope to get a job soon so I can buy one of the XLs, before they go out of production.

I carried that with a waved 511 kerambit for back up. I consider that as good or better than my DDR madd maxx.

With more possessions comes more responsibility--I want to be more responsible--therefore the answer is more knives---Steve

It's totally normal to slow down or stop for awhile. Or to move on to collecting something else. It depends on the stages in your life and it can have many reasons.

There's an old saying, and it's somewhat true, that you spend the first half of your adulthood acquiring things and the second half trying to get rid of it all. Of course, some people collect to the end.

good luck if you're addicted to anything.
only TWO ways to stop a serious addiction.
ONE - is that you're no longer breathing!
or TWO - that you've come to the point where you're forced to make one last final decision on re-evaluating life's priorities.
only you can decide when you've had enough of a ride.
one sure way is to turn to another interest unrelated to what you're into,
like...making your own knives! <lol>

I have several "active" projects with Reese Weiland and one with Darrel Ralph. Beyond that maybe a have a re-handle done on some Ontario/Hossom Retribution 1&2, a set for the wife and I that are waved and need a pocket clip. I have bought a 1x42 belt grinder and have fulfilled several orders wether waving or double edging (search youtube for FTWCM). Soon, I hope to be a full time knifemaker.

I've done 12 step before:

I'm down to around 10 knives total.

I started to realize...something. I am now going to enjoy the knives I have, and still give some away because damn, 10 knives? Heck probably 1 or 2 would last the rest of my life. I don't want to be a materialist.

If you don't buy knives, what are you going to "wave" now ??? :D

His customs, when he makes them. :)

This is old. From while was doing AA.

Right on.

Words to live by.

BTW. You will be making waved knives right? I sincerely wish you the best of luck.
Having seen your taste in knives around the forums, I would imagine you'll be making
some tactical and stealthy beasts. :D
