I am with Eero on this..... An Eleven or Fourteen, because they are always on you and flat enough to sleep with, a Sixteen because it is so damn handy and Ten or a Reinhardt Kuk because sometimes there is no substitute for brawn....

How much longer did your Hardwear have to be with the scale inserts?

I used 3/4" bolts, but had to grind them down a bit with a dremel. 5/8" would've probably been perfect.

My 16, I've used it for food and other small jobs. I like it a lot.

Love the scales. I'm thinking of leaving my 16 with the coating on and getting the black and blue G10 scales.

Thanks for the kind words. I got my brother a BK9 with the black and blue scales, it looks awesome. When that black coating finally comes off, I plan to force a patina with black walnut husks.

Thanx, she is a monster. Since my 24 is off at the kydex maker I have been using the crap out of her. There is nothing I have thrown at her that she has not handled.

Did you strip it and let it patina over time? Or is that a satin finish on the blade? Looks great either way.

My BK 16 just came in the mail today. This is the second time I've had a Becker. The first was a Camillus BK10 probably eight years ago. Good knife, but overkill for my purposes. The 16 seems just right; all the quality and features of the Crewman, but sized for hiking and general woodsloafing.

It's going to get stripped in short order and I may consider a more streamlined sheath at some point.
