Dedicated BK16 Photo Thread

You guys did it, you talked me into a BK16 :D

Sigh. Me too.
Just sold my 2 to fund a 16. The 2 was a lot thicker than I liked, I'm sure the 16 will be just right. A little thicker than an Esee 3, little thinner than an Esee 4.
I figure I'll lurk the exchange for a week, and if none pop up I'll get one elsewhere.
Will use it immediately and post pics eventually...

After researching this knife I'm sorry I bought 2 Becker Necker's. I wish I bought one of each or just the BK16. I have the Matchax that I love but I'm really starting to like this knife. I'll get one eventually, and maybe I can sell one of my Becker Necker's to help pay for it.

Here are the two side by side. This might help.

Alrighty then. First post, First Becker, First mod, and first paracord wrap. All at once. This is mostly a proof of concept for a neat little idea I had whist lurking here.

I cut out the center screw hole area in the handle and SUPER skeletonized the knife. Then I used a piece of 1/4" dowel to create a center column for the wrap. It's gonna be skeletonized further in the future, and instead of dowel, I'll use a long piece of ferro rod. It'll end up being a little fire-starter spearhead survival knife or something. For now though, it's the very first full skeleton paracord bk-16 (that I've seen, at least).

Just thought you guys might enjoy seeing what you've inspired me to create.

That's pretty sweet, especially first post, first mod! How'd you do the skeletonization?

Sweet knife PMT, love the idea of the emergency fero rod in the center. Great thinking!!

Hacksaw, and a dremel to clean it up afterward. guess I should have taken some WIP shots, but I didn't think of it until later. Sadly, with the material removal and lack of zytel scales, it's a little bit blade heavy. The ferro-rod should clear that up, though.

I want one of those saber ground ones without the "first production run" etched in it. Where can I find one of those?

I just got a new one of these yesterday. I really like the knife, and can't wait to use it. It's razor sharp out of the box. Now that you mention it mine will be a companion knife to my Matchax.

I received mine 2 days ago. Makes a nice companion to my BK-7, which will takes its place on my pack now. The 16 will be my go to belt knife.

I thinned my oversize scales a bit, and added the white liner to sort of match my 7 and 24.
Sadly I can't get my lighting and camera to cooperate, so we're either over- or under-exposed.

Still a favorite user knife no matter how you slice it.

Got this in today!! Must say in all honesty that this is the sharpest Ka-bar I have ever received, And I've got many of them.

The Bk-16 is one of my favorite knives. It is my absolute favorite knife in this size range.
I like all my 16's but I really do prefer the Saber grind. Don't know why Ka-bar won't just sell both?? I think a lot of people would buy one of each.

Time to etch and strip!! :D

Man those sabers keep showing up... I gotta get me one.

It looks so clean!
For most uses I prefer a FFG blade, but they weren't out yet when I got my saber. I'm forever tempted to get one, but the one I have is so useful I just don't feel a need.

Well, I finally got one, I keep looking for things around the house to use it on but so far I haven't found anything. I can't wait for it to start cooling off hear so I can go camping. This knife and my SRK are going go see some use this season.

Wow another saber showed up. I'm looking to get another 16 soon. Maybe I'll keep my fingers crossed. I don't really think I'd need the added strength of that grind profile but I sure as hell like the way it looks. Mini-BK2 shape...
