Deer Hunting Fixed Blade

There are many. But most of the good ones (in the $100 price range) have been mentioned. I have seen some very nice hunting blades on the Exchange here that I would probably buy over most others that are commercially available at that price. Over $100 and you get into the real quality production blades- Dozier, Bark River, Fallkniven to name a few.

meliaant, you make a choice yet? I'm curious what you got.

budget became more of an issue than i anticipated, so I grabbed the Kershaw Bear Hunter...I was also worried that I would spend $75 or $100 on one, and have him not truly appreciate the knife, ya know?

I'll bet I have somewhere in the neighborhood of a hundred knives, all of which have a special thing to me. The knife I've carried the most deer hunting is Buck 119. I have a tendency to leave the expensive ones at home. I've used to big and to small, it's tough to beat the size and shape of the 119.

You didn't find the 119 to be too big/too long? I'm thinking of saving up for a Fallkniven S1, but am worried the 5" blade will be too much for an all-purpose, any-game knife.

I'd rather save up, and buy one good blade, than have a box full of inexpensive stuff.
