Curious of the specs on that new B&T model?
4” blade and 4” handle. .079” stock thickness. Some give but not much. I don’t think the blade length is totally necessary but nice for reach breasting birds. Might make a few in .04” aeb-l.Curious of the specs on that new B&T model?
Nice job....
No worries, it is interesting how things change over time. Lately I’ve been refining a lot of my patterns and slimming them down a bit.Man, these just keep getting better and better.
Out of curiosity: If you were going to make a couple of knives for yourself, which steel(s) would you choose?
I know you've answered questions like this before, I'm just curious to know if your opinions have changed over time.

For me magnacut has been pretty impressive. I always use the .08” stock and run it at 63 HRC very thinly ground. It’s very well balanced and all my customers (and me) have nothing but good things to say. With that being said for game knives I’m still a sucker for 10v (I just ordered $500 worth of .075” stock). Magnacut for edc though-for me. It’s all great. I am interested to see what the new CPM steel is about.
Kitchen knives I’m kind of stuck on 14c28n. It’s very tough and the edge stability is fantastic for push cutting applications. Edge retention isn’t as important to me in the kitchen, as it’s not a big deal to resharpen.
I’ve only used the k390 from spyderco and I’m a big fan of that. I’ve done a few regrinds and they both grind about the same. I think 10v is slightly more corrosion resistant, which makes sense. The biggest reason I buy 10v is I can get it in thin stock, where k390 I think the thinnest I’ve seen is .100”+Excellent. How would you compare 10V to K390?
