Deer Season Update.....Elmax Steak Knife Review

unfortunately no. I saw lots of deer and hunted all week in two different spots but could not get any close enough to shoot. I am pretty sure I have to work during black powder season so I think I am done for this year. Major let down.

I feel your pain. Just couldn't get a good shot on anything. I don't like to shoot unless I am confident in the shot being a good hit.

No luck hunting this year besides a couple of grouse and squirrels... Which size steak knife you like using for dressing deer?

Would the ELMAX series be a good knife to carry on the belt as an EDC?

I think the 4" I handled at Blade would be a little long for my taste but it surely would be light enough. I think the smaller one would be about perfect for this. Gonna try to get one for me and each of my daughters. They are quickly becoming knife lovers too. I found my 12 year old looking over my carry pieces "hoggishly" the other day.

Thanks! I have yet to decide what length I would go for. That sounds like a cool plan, though. You're raising your daughters right :)

bmilla,

I'm glad you're considering this.
Yes, the shorter version (IMO) of the Elmax is a great EDC belt knife.
I hope the Busse Mods will forgive this comparison, but I'm reaching to find something comparable; think of it as a fixed blade Sebenza ..except it holds an edge better, has a better warranty, better ergos, is near half the price, and of course doesn't pose the risk of folding..;)

Other than prying applications, and other extreme uses, it's the finest small blade for pure slicing/cutting on general materials I've had.
Frankly though, In order to cut like a beast, means other applications are limited in comparison to thicker blades that don't slice as well. To my knowledge, there isn't a blade in the world today that doesn't have a balance of desired/realistic/intended application; just keep in mind that if you had a Sebenza, and damaged it outside the intended application/design of the manufacturer, your warranty has a big "?" on whether you are covered.

A Busse blade carries the Busse warranty, and am paraphrasing "..covered against all major unintentional damage".
Best blades..Best warranty..they have no rivals.
