Defensive Knife?

I choose to drop trou and flash my meat saber. That usually does the trick.

I have got an axe, a hutchet, Hudson Bay knife from Condor and Nimravus from BM for defense purposes. I never carry any of them with me of course: they are too heavy and/or too bulky. I also have a few spades and a big wrench in the garage that I contemplate adding to my defense arsenal. I think that could be a good idea!

Wait, like one of these?

My most EDC'd knife is my Emerson CQC-13, which makes for a pretty decent self defense knife...

Oh, right, this is a joke thread now....

I use this:

This topic was a joke before the OP even posted.
Actually, many on this forum carry a knife with self-defense in mind, including myself. And some people here have experience using a knife for self-defense, including myself. And countless ordinary people throughout human history have used knives successfully to defend themselves. If you would like, I could post links to several news stories of such cases.

Having fun with a topic posted in the wrong forum is one thing, but I don't think that anyone who has saved their life or prevented themselves from being raped by using a knife would call the idea "a joke".

In a way this is a joke thread, common sense is lacking,a kitchen knife is just as deadly as a Busse,a crappy 3$ machete is as deadly as a HI Sirupati, the topic of self defense with a knife isnt a joke at all.
On a serious note,OP,if you want to be well covered in terms of defensive weapons, carry a Sig/Kimber/Glock and a 8-12 inch fixed blade,if one fails, the other wont.

get a gun. or a really REALLY powerfull handheld tactical laser pointer (you can permenantly blind someone by burning there retinas out, if it touches there eye for so much as an instant). if you really want a folding knife for a self defense roll, make sure its got a blade length over four inches.

or you could just, you know, buy a gun. any gun really. or a bat. or a sword, or a really pointy screwdriver, or a nice big can of lysol. or, well, just about anything other then a sub "3in folding knife.

99% of the people with proper training in the use of any sort of knife can use it effectivly use it in self defense

99% of people who carry a knife for self defense dont have that training.

FACT: 87.5% of statistics are made up...including this one.

I'd rather use a hammer for self defense than a pocket knife. It's better than nothing, I suppose, but keeping a safe distance is way more preferable than pretending I have any kind of knife fighting training. Unless you have serious fighting skills, just carry a gun and call it a day. My house is less than a quarter mile from the Mexican border and I've never needed to draw on someone, much less been in a knife fight. I like knives because I'm a guy and I think they're cool, not because I think I'm a ninja warrior.
