Define Gentleman Folder ?

My Benchmade Torrent is right on the border of being too big. The only thing that makes it work is the fact that from a distance, it looks for all the world like an ordinary kitchen knife. In fact, there are bigger knives in our staff kitchen than the Torrent. And, of course, none of the sheeple goes berserk when somebody picks one of them up and uses it. Go figure.

I have a few EDC"s however the only two I personally would say are "gentleman's folders" Spyderco Sage 4 and my William Henry E6-1 Just my opinion and nothing more.

the William Henry is beautiful. Personally i use the mnandi, if its ever seen the first thing i would say is look at the beautiful ebony wood.

There are knives I personally am considering that are fine in materials and f&f, but are on the borderline between gentleman's knife and tactical.

My idea of a gents folder...

Beautiful. But if I got caught carrying one of those in my neck of the woods, I'd end up with a felony on my record. That raises an interesting question. I'm in LaLa land. Aren't you and I both in the same neck of the woods, more or less?

I'm approx 4 hours north of you.

Right. But we're both in the State of California. And if I'm not mistaken, the State of California prohibits switchblade knives. Isn't the knife you pictured an OTF? And if the blade is 2.0" or greater, wouldn't that be considered a switchblade? (God I hope I'm wrong about that!!!)

PS: Looking at your pic again, it's possible that the blade is 2.0" or less. That would explain it. Did you make that knife? If you did, it's REALLY sweet? :)

It's 3.25" so that makes it illegal... to carry in public. Not to own.

I didn't make it. I paid a guy named Burn $700 to make it for me :D

Right you are. I've got a Protech Brend that I can't walk outside with, but it's a great knife. And yours is fantastic.

Well there's that of course. Some folks are bigger risk-takers than others. I'm just too old to spend time in the pokey over an EDC. And for the most part, I find that well-made flippers are enough to satisfy me. I mean, I've two HTM Gun Hammers that I need two hands to hold onto every time I launch their blades or they'll take off like scared rabbits. Do I really need more than that?

I disagree about no one handed opening.

A gentleman should be efficient and discreet.

My most gentlemanly folder is a Gayle Bradley Air. Perfect mix of style and performance.

CPM M4

Could not agree more as I have that knife and it is lightweight, thin yet very functional.

I just ask myself... What would James Bond carry?

A discreet slim profile boot knife perhaps. Just excuse him while he ties/shines his shoe for a moment.

Exactly what I was thinking... and pretty much what I posted!

Cary Grant at a cocktail party in a double breasted suit. He cutting the peel from a lemon for a woman whose martini us missing one.

He is using a gentleman's knife.
