What design improvements do you have for the next Delica? The current model is already so great that it would be hard to improve upon. But then again that's what they said about the first Paramilitary.

The only suggestion I can think of is a lower riding or possibly wire clip. And also it's been suggested before to include several spare clips in different finishes/styles with the knife and I think the D5 would be the perfect platform to test this idea on.

Any speculation on the D5 release date? Or how long Spyderco usually keeps a model in service before updating? I personally have no idea, I was just starting this thread for fun. I don't even know how long the D4 has been out :D

Just a thought.
Not sure if the wire pocket clip can be made to go tip up / tip down. If it is only one directional that would go against Spydercos trend of increasing features on new generations.

I would like a return to the more fragile but more acute pointy tip. Wire clip is a possibility but I really see little wrong with the hourglass...Any possible updates to the backlock would be nice as well.

Why not? On my Sage 1 there are holes on the front scale so the wire clip can be switched to LH carry. So what would stop them from drilling holes for tip down as well?

Now when it's also available in FFG, I.. really can't think of anything off the top of my head to add to it.

Bluetooth maybe! Or GPS.

Release a Delica5 with built in GPS and I will buy it. :D

50/50 choil? Not that I need one, but it would be a nice use of the only wasted space on the current design.

As is, it is quite close to perfect for MANY people.

The only upgrade I would love would if they added it in orange or toxic green with a black blade :D

+1 on that. I own four Delica models and love them all, but that would be great :)

the Delica is already such a great knife. i would say it's perfect if not for the fact that i personally prefer larger knives, i.e. the Military. the only thing i would like to see in a new Delica is higher end materials like S30V or S90V blade, titanium or carbon fiber handle. if it ain't broke don't fix it! & as it is the Delica is not broken.

Like this? :D

Other Frankendelicas are can be fabricated as well, if one possesses the delicate hands of a Master Craftsman like me.

FFG black, and SE blue.

I woul like to see other colors as well. A flat earth tan/brown and a forest green for starters.

I would personally want to see a Wire Clip capability on top of the Hour glass clip ability.

I think it's doable to tap 3 screws for the Hour glass and then put 2 slots with a hole in the center to accept the Wire clip.

Other than that, I don't see much that can be done without modifying this design a lot

I absolutely love the Delica 4; I have it in FFG in grey. It was my first spyderco, bought it 6 or so months ago and since then bought my family a black one with the combo edge.

The only thing that makes me carry my new Benchmade 527 a little more often (other than it being new) is that I like the axis lock so much better than the back lock. If the delica 5 could go with a liner lock, frame lock or even compression lock I would be a lot happier. More colors would be great as well. Also, as said if they could use a wire clip or make the current hour glass clip carry a little deeper that would be great too.

But really, they shouldn't change much since to me it is already perfect. :D

I think the interchangable clip system you described is brilliant. With this and a small 50/50 choil, the D5 will be a huge success.
