Delica 5

The only thing I'd do would be to add a bit of blade so the blade extends all the way to the end of the handle when it's closed. Think of it as the Delica 4.5;)

I'd like a titanium handle with a Chris Reeve framelock. Also like for the tip to be a little thinner. Interchangeable clips would be a plus too.

Like this? :D

That is one ugly Delica..good PS job though.

Bingo...I like the Gen 3 blade shape better...maybe make the blade steel a hair thicker so you could have the accute tip and FFG...
I would like a return to the more fragile but more acute pointy tip. Wire clip is a possibility but I really see little wrong with the hourglass...Any possible updates to the backlock would be nice as well.

i'd take the acute tip the ffg and the thin steel too ... a delica is not exactly my idea of a tough hard use pry friendly knife.

This will go against the trend probably but I'd like to see the Delica be a little shorter. I'm a big fan of the Delica and the Endura, but I just feel like there isn't a big enough size different between the two in their current incarnations. I'd like to see the Delica with a closed length of under 4", maybe closer to 3.75". I feel like this could be an awesome improvement to this model.

50/50 choil? Not that I need one, but it would be a nice use of the only wasted space on the current design.

As is, it is quite close to perfect for MANY people.

If they could do that WITHOUT screwing up the current ergonomics, i'd love it. But with my other spydies with 50/50 choils, it's incredibly awkward to hold it without using the choil.

Id like a choil and a 1:1 blade-handle ratio as well as some cool new colours *cough*Toxic Green*cough*

I really dig the blade shape on the waved Delica, but I don't really care for the feature itself. Has anyone bought a Delica wave and ground off the extra bit to round out the deployment hole? I think the Delica 5 would look cool with this kind of styling...

Hmmm... ;)

I wish they still offered SE. I picked up a British racing green zdp se delica, and the SE is perfect for my work (opening lots of parts boxes, never break them down because we send the old parts back in the same box).

with SE, I can just drag the belly of the edge across the tape, instead of having to stick the blade between the flaps to cut the tape.

I agree. The SE ZDP Delics is an awesome cutting machine. SE blade a way underaated.

I guess I am one in the minoritity.

The Endura and Delica I believe is designed the way it is for a few reasons.

* Base line model for new knife people

* Backlock (almost everyone knows how to use it, I have seen many people almost break my liner locks due to them pushing it to the wrong side or cant find the lock, the backlock when done right is very reliable. My grandfather thinks a liner lock is crap. Wont have the the life span as a back lock. Perception plays a role)
* No Choil (new knife people barely know what a choil is or is used for, some might)
* Good steel alloy that is affordable

The Endura and Delica = Cheap, well made, good materials, performs and is easy to understand even for people unfamiliar with knives. There is no excess or extras. What you see is what you get. I see non knife people able to use a Delica far easier then any other type of lock. Sure for us knife nuts it makes sense, but these are base models to get people thinking about good quality knives. It is a recipe that works, and works well.

If a choil is a big concern for many, why not just get a Stretch?

Those are my thoughts.

You aren't alone. I like it just the way it is. Blade isn't too short but it's under 3 inches. No choil. I don't even mind the tip. I carried a Delica 98 until last year and thought I would miss the little pointy tip but I haven't found anything the D4 can't do just fine.
I think Ti is neat but I like FRN for the Delica. I have a Sage 2 and Ti UKPK. The ergos for the D4 are pretty much perfect for me. The clip position is good as well since I prefer having a little more of the knife sticking out so it's easier to retrieve when it's needed. If I want a low rider, I'll carry a Caly 3 or UKPK.
I've just been completely happy with the Delica 4 as is. I know that it will eventually change. But I'm not in a hurry to see it.

Deep riding clip. Delica 4 FFG is pretty much as perfect as it is... Oh, yeah well... Orange FRN/G10 handles and deep riding clip. Then I couldn't ask more.

No Photoshop here. This is the real deal. I bought two white FRN Delicas and dyed them orange. One was interchanged with the blade and hardware from an all black Delica and the other got a FFG blade from a current Delica.

You might enjoy the Dragonfly. Spyderco has the small folder market in the bag. I'd like tos ee some more larger knives. 4"-5" blades please.
Get rid of that lame rounded tip :barf:
Why? So people can start crying all over again when they snap the tips off? The grass always seems greener on the other side, until you're standing in the middle of the lawn.
