Delica vs Endura for EDC?

if you're going for the 3" blade size, I'd recommend that you get the Caly 3 (G10, VG10). You won't look back after that. Granted, it's twice the price of the Delica, but you get:

1. full flat grind for superior cutting performance
2. G10 scales
3. top and bottom jimping on the spine and choil
4. the very ergonomic handle, with a useful choil. the handle shape is far superior to the Delica
5. stainless steel liners. this really stiffens up the frame and gives the blade a solid feel.
6. nicer (IMO) blade shape.

If you're feeling rich, you could try the CF/ZDP version but I dislike the softness of the 420J laminate on the ZDP. Also, I'm now finding out that ZDP really isn't as corrosion resistant as I would like since I'm in the tropics with 95-98% humidity daily.

I would rate the Caly 3 one of the best folding knives ever.

That's right, if the dilemma is Caly 3 vs Delica, Caly hands down!
I just bought a Caly3 CF/ZDP, really can't wait for it to arrive. For your info, there is nothing on the market right now that cut better than a Caly Jr. ZDP. Caly3 CF ZDP vs Caly Jr. ZDP vs Delica4 ? :D

dunno about that, mini manix is quite a different beast though, like 3 times heavier too:D

They both feel so light and carry so easily in the pocket that you may as well just get the Endura and have the extra however-many-inches-of-blade on tap.

Thats my reason for carrying one over the other anyway.

I love larger blades for my edc knife. I have medium-large hands, so I appreciate knives with larger handles. And yet... :o for some reason, the Endura 4's handle just won't sit comfortably in my hand. However, the smaller Delica 4's handle is incredibly comfortable! Go figure, eh?
So, for my own preference, I'd get the Delica, due to subjective handle ergonomics and comfort.

Caly3 vs. Delica- I have both, and if I could have only one for EDC, it'd be the Caly3 in a heartbeat. It's just a nicer knife in every way.
Having said that, have you considered a Delica Wave? Now that's a fun knife :D

The Endura is pretty big for EDC. Depending on what you do , it might be too much blade...

I have the Delica and Endura too, they are both nice knives. I mostly use them as back up knives, so the Delica gets carried more often, since it is smaller. If I had to choose one as a EDC, I would go with the Endura, because bigger is better, IMO.

I know the only difference is size, but I would like some imput on which one would be better for EDC, legal restrictions aside.

Thanks

I tried a few knives for EDC - Trance, BM Mini-Grip, and the PE SS Delica. I'm also a big guy at about 6'4" and well over 350 lbs. The Delica is a great size for my big hands where the mini-grip was just too small. The Trance is very good as well, just to give another point of comparison. Overall the Delica has been great. I especially like the heft of the SS model compared to some of the other handle materials. In addition to the Delica, I EDC a Swisschamp.

How does the Centofante III or IIII fit in to the Delica (Waved of course) vs. Caly debate?

Is it a contender?

I know what you mean. The G10 Byrd Robin and Byrd Meadowlark fit my fat paws extremely well, but the larger Cara Cara is very uncomfortable for me to hold.

Anyhow -- I like both the Delica and the Endura. I agree with the others that the ergos are quite similar; accounting for handle and blade differences, I'd say it comes down to your needs/uses and your local EDC-related rules and regulations.

What the heck. We've gone this far. Let's also throw in the Mini Manix as a suggestion.

You know, if I can convince my mom to loan me 65 bucks, that would be the one I would get. That's my "dream knife" right now. The only thing stopping me from getting it is money.

I'm going to try to write up a contract for my mom and promise to quit slacking off in my homework, and see if I can't get the loan. (Which I could probably pay off pretty quick, seeing I've got a projector for sale on Ebay.)

I'll let you guys know how it goes. Keep your fingers crossed! ;)

From this family, I have a Delica 4 SE, Endura 4 Wave and Endura 4 CE.

The Delica gets carried more often, but in certain situations I'll take an Endura, for instance, at night (E4 Wave), or going out for a couple of days (E4 CE).

A big knife will do a small one's job, but not the opposite. My Delica's serrated edge evens things out a bit in regards to cutting power, and it is indeed friendlier to carry, but if I'm anticipating heavier use, I'll take the Endura.

I carry both as my EDC. The delica is my public knife in my right pocket and the Endura is my SD backup in my left with a poor man's wave.

When I wear my jeans, endura is a bit long due to pocket is higher, so I feel it when I sit down. But when I wear my cargo shorts, endura is perfect.

I duno how small hands do some of you have, but when I tried a robin, the handle was way to small, almost two of my fingers have nothing to grip. Coupled with the slippery stainless handle it was a pain so I returned it.

Couldn't get Manix or Caly, about to order a SE Delica. Is this a good practical all around EDC?
Yes, very. I carry one on and off whenever I'm in the mood to. Great knife. (Mine is SS SE Delica)
