Let me ask you guys. Any of your S30V versions developing a patina? Mine is. I really need to figure out how to post pics here.

Oh yeah man I was waiting to hear back about yours. My two no patina, and I carry one everyday. Live in southeastern NC. High humidity and I live about 10 min from ocean. Is yours getting worse?

mwramos76,

Have you tries Bar Keepers Friend to remove the staining discoloration on the blade?

Regards,
FK

It is "stainless",,, not immune to staining and corrosion.
It all depends upon the materials the blade is exposed to and the time of exposure.

FK

Glad to see this model gaining some traction. Great working blade that will be awesome in a variety of steels. I bought the original when it came out just as a gesture of thanks for the back story of how it came to be. Hap40 may be too hard to resist.

mwramos76 mwramos76 I think you might want to shoot Spyderco an email just to ask what they think. I don't think I can remember seeing S30 look like that. I'm no expert just based on my own limited knowledge, maybe someone who knows steel better can give you a better insight

One other thing I wanted to add is I don't ever use mine for food prep so maybe that has something to do with it, I think I get what you mean though. You just see something on your knife and wonder if other people are getting the same results.

Oh I have definitely used mine for food prep. Tomatoes potatoes onions pickles beef chicken all the sorts. With that said. I have had other spyders in S30V and never had they stained liked this. Annnnnd with that being said it still really doesn’t bother me. I really hope spyderco goes crazy and offers these in ALL those nice fancy steels. Hap40 up next like mentioned before. Very exciting

No patina on mine, but I always wipe my blade off every time I cut food though...
