DeLorean ride 2011 Tell Me About Bark River Knives, Please.

Here's a fun one that came up almost 20 years ago about BRKT using modified kit blades when they were first starting -

At first glace, it seems like maybe a disgruntle employee, but then you dig up the Sheffield catalogs, and it gets more interesting.

To make it easier, you just need to open the Sheffield PDF in one window, and then cross it against the photo links I googled up -

...Do we have a brk picture thread? If not we need one.

Amen.

When I joined here, I went looking for one. The most recent one I found seemed to turn-into a circus/hit piece in about .030 seconds. So, I opted to keep out.

I absolutely love many of my Barkies, and many have seen me through some nights alone out here in the Middle of Nowhere, Texas...zero issues or complaints.

Here's a little "Squad Leader" action for the other regular users like me...

I find it absolutely ironic that so many people (perhaps some in this thread) are vehemently opposed to Chinese made knives, yet will turn a blind eye to domestic thievery, fraud, deception, lies, lack of customer support and rudeness. I guess as long as there is a "made in USA" stamp somewhere to be seen, that negates all the douchebaggery of this man, company and product.

i have a bark river macvsog 3v (maybe?) bowie. came with the wrong size sheath.....way too big for it. i wrote it off as a glitch..mistakes happen. then saw a thread that it happened all the time with this model.....go figure....

Are you complaining about not knowing the knife model or that the knife fits in the sheath? One post and you've shot gun blasted two AMERICAN companies full of AMERICAN workers. Have you given the companies the opportunity to correct this mistake. Maybe you should call. It's the weekend but Mike Stewart is in the shop electro acid etching the logo on blades and working out details for the next grind in because THAT is the kind of person he is.

You spew venom about Bark River but you won't mention that other knife company that ships knives with silly names and no sheath. The fan boy good old boy club streak of these threads really turns of SERIOUS knife users. How much traffic do these hit threads create? Pure click bait.

On and another thing. Where is this mysterious thread about Barky leather? IF this thread exists In curious to know who started it. Time to get back to USING my knives.

I like my BRKT.. Thats All..

Probably in my "Top 5" favorite knives of all time, and the most brutally tough hidden tang knife that I have EVER used...

Many years ago, I bought a small barkie on the bay, I believe. The sheath broke when I pushed the knife to the bottom. In my opinion, the leather was old and dried out, and that was the reason it happened. (Maybe I should have been a little more careful, but I still felt shorted.) I called BRKT and asked for a replacement sheath. A guy named Mike Stewart answered and agreed to send one without hesitation. We then went on to have a jovial conversation. He acted like he had all the time in the world to talk with a stranger.

Over time I acquired a small pile of barkies, all of which reside in their boxes to this day - as do most of my purchases. I did not learn of the anti-Mike sentiment until near the end of my barkie buying fetish. The situation makes me sad. (frown emoji)

I’ve owned several and still own a few. The ones I sold just didn’t tickle my fancy after a while, nothing wrong with them.

As for the blade steel matching the label, I have access to analytical equipment if anyone really wants to test theirs. The ones I’ve owned all performed like I would expect for their marked steel.
