OK, the stain is blue. (Holy blue jeans batman.)
As far as Ti picking up the color when stainless does not, the oxide layer on stainless is very tightly adhering. Has to be else the steel isn't stainless. But the oxide layer on the Ti is somewhat porous. Must be the combination of dye that runs plus an unanodized Ti that will pick it up.
I'll mention that to my friend at work. A new one for the book.
