Deployment Survival...need some input...

I've tried a number of whistles, and the ones my family and I always carry are these from REI

They are plenty loud and relatively easy to get some good sound out of, plus they meet your criteria of being easy to carry with dog tags. Another good point is that it should be pretty easy to get a bunch of them from an outfit the size of REI.

I have one of the smaller ones...aluminum and pretty light. We get funding for "reenlistment" gifts for Soldiers who reup. I'll have to look into having the whistles made with our BN logo on it...that may be a good long term idea:thumbup:

Check out acme whistles for gifts - they make excellent whistles that have stood the test of time (est. 1883!). Solid, shiny, and they do engraving.
Here is their website. :)
I have had the "thunderer" for about 10 years now, it was given to me when I started going the sea scouts - I've since left and it's gone into storage, I'll have to dig it out. Great whistles!

Dual purpose...those brass ones could be used as an impact weapon and you could blow the whistle for medics after the perp is knocked unconcious:D

Yeowch, just noticed that it's .51 Kgs, holy cow! I never remember it being that heavy - wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that! :D

I would recomend a fox 40 whistle tied to a lanyard loop of a 1911! If the triple tap does not raise help then the whistle could be used!

Disgusting that someone over fighting for their country has to worry about this sort of shit amd from fellow soldiers makes it all the worse! Hopefully the offenders are dealt with appropriately by the honorable members around them!

Rock6, why don't the rest of the Unit take care of those issues the 'old fashioned way'? If a female is assaulted she can 'mark' the perp on the face with her nails. Once he's spotted by any one in the Unit he gets 'brought to the attention of an LT'. from there he becomes the Sh*t bait for the Unit when out on LRPs. "Hey, what's that over there?, looks like a possible IED. Send Sh*t bait over to take a CLOSE look". Just tell the females to 'enjoy it' and make the perp think 'she's cool with it'. Next time she sees him she can drop him with a round, War sucks, but Rape is a Life Sentence! A whistle won't do jacksh*t to get attention what with all the background noise. If I was in and saw it going down I'd pop a round in the perp myself, no questions asked, right in the beaner. BRING IT BEEOCH!

We haven't dealt much with that yet, but to me sometraining with non leathal defensive force would be nice, though the chances of the force doing that is slim to non, boot knife? :D

the best thing I can think of is a Fox40 micro, I have had one on my PFD for SAR, and I have to admit it has taken a beating, I did break one but I was nailed by a boat pretty hard, so.

Good for them, ROCK! It would serve the despicable cowards right to get "dismantled" by one of your young LT's!

Carolina, I spent a lot of time at Kirkuk...when were you there?

Why not order the issue green drill whistles, they are class IX and around everywhere. I found a box of 100 that the Supply Sgt threw in the milvan.
