I posted the info below in the sign-up/commitment thread, but just to make people see it, I'm also posting it as its own thread.

Update 08/16/2012: The deadline for deposits is Friday, August 31, 2012.

---------------------------------------

Important deposit/ordering info -- please read carefully!

Alright, guys, I just got off the phone with Darrel about the deposit/order procedure, and it's pretty straightforward -- basically like the ordering procedure for one of his customs. Here's what Darrel and his crew need to get started making these awesome knives:

1. A $180 deposit (i.e., 50% of the knife's price). Note that this deposit is non-refundable: this is a small and highly customized run by HTM's standards, so a deposit, in addition to being used for materials that have to be special-ordered (esp. the CPM-S90V for the blade), helps mitigate the risk of taking on such a small/specialized project for HTM. The project won't move forward until everyone's deposits are in, so get it done ASAP. You can pay the deposit in one of two ways:

i. By phone using a credit card. The main number for HTM (and Stephanie, who handles payments and other administrative/bookkeeping stuff for the company) is 740-965-9970. (Update: Just got an email from Darrel saying to call between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Eastern time. Same goes for email to get an immediate response.)

ii. By mail using a USPS money order (please do not send personal checks or non-USPS money orders [which can be a pain in the arse to find a place to cash]). The address to send the money order to is:

HTM
4185 S State Route 605
Attn: Stephanie
Galena, OH 43021-9650

2. Whether you pay via phone or snail mail, you'll also need to include information about your knife so that Stephanie can send you a PDF file of your work order/receipt, which will reflect your knife's configuration and the deposit you've put down. Specifically, you'll need to provide:

i. Your serial number (see the list in this post) and forum username. (This should be obvious, but if you didn't get on the list before it closed at the end of July, you can't order one of these knives.)

ii. Your configuration choices, namely blade shape (Bowie -or- Torpedo) and opening mechanism (spring assisted -or- manual w/ Maxx Glide)

3. Contact information, specifically your name, mailing address, phone, and email. If you send payment via snail mail, include a sheet of paper (preferably typed, since the legibility of people's handwriting varies widely!) with this info on it. If you pay via phone, Stephanie will likely get most of this info from you, but it'd be good to follow up with an email (to stephaniewilliams.ddrcs@gmail.com) just for the sake of completeness/accuracy.

Again, the project won't move forward until everyone has completed the above procedure, so get it done right away.

I'm assuming we should just leave a message or something when we call? Because I've called several times to try to make payment, and it's gone to voicemail each time.

That's weird -- on the handful of times I've called the main HTM number during business hours, Lisa has always picked up. She might be on vacation or something right now. In any case, though, yes, just leave a message for her to call you back if it goes to voicemail.

EDIT: Disregard the above. Just got an email from Darrel saying that people should only call in between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Eastern time, which is when Lisa will be manning the phones.

I am gonna have to wait until Friday as well. I am out of town on vacation and learned the hard way not to buy things on the internet when I am out of town. My card was shut down last time I bought something over the phone while I was in New Orleans and I wasted a lot of time getting things put back together. Apparently buying something in CA while I am in my hometown in MO is okay, but buying something in WA while I am in Louisiana is not. Sorry, end of my rant.

See the update about what hours to call. There's a lot happening at DDR/HTM these days, so Lisa is only manning the phones from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. Eastern time.

I left her a message to call me when she is available. I'm prepared to pay the full amount anytime.

Once everyone is paid up (we might want to send messages to everyone on the list with this link) how long until production starts?

I am curious if there is some sort of deadline for payments? Not concerning myself so much, but I hope no one plans on dragging out the payments for a long time. If it doesn't start until we have all paid, let's all try to get our down payments taken care care of by at least the 17th. That gives 2 Fridays for paydays if that is necessary for anyone to pay. This is by no means the official date, as I am not in charge of this, but maybe Neuron or Hark will chime in and give some insight. If persons are having trouble coming up with the necessary money, let Neuron or Hark know ASAP so people don't start getting anxious.

Also, Neuron or Hark, as I won't be back in town until late Thursday or early Friday, is HTM open for calls on Saturday during those same hours? Thanks.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I'm pretty busy for the next day and a half but will send out messages after that when I have some free time. The delay of a couple days will also give people a chance to see the thread in their normal browsing, so I can just message those who haven't yet posted or given some other indication of having seen the thread.

As for when production will start, I'm not sure but can ask Darrel next time I talk to him. From talking to him earlier today, though, it sounded like he'd put the order for the steel in the moment the last of the down payments came in (not sure if that counts as starting production, but whatever we want to call it, getting the materials is obviously a necessary initial step).

Good question. Obviously, it wouldn't be fair to anyone -- especially Darrel/HTM and the other people on the list -- for a few people's lagging to delay the process. That's another thing I'll ask Darrel about next time I talk to him. Whatever he says can serve as the official deadline (after which a person's spot would be forfeited).

As for the question about calling in, I don't think they're open on Saturday. Don't worry, though -- early next week would be fine.

OK- I am paid. Sounds as of this morning, Lisa is no longer there. Stephanie will be taking your orders.
Let's Go!
