Designing a 'Fighting Bowie' Update

Good ideas all round, no doubt, I think CM and I pretty much have the shape nailed down. Think of an urban barong, applied as a bowie.
 
I like a little less rise on the spine but I love where you've taken the general shape.

I like what you did with the sharpening choil or whatever you call it.
 
I'm for a clean-lined, symmetrical handle for very quick deployment. What little I've read about Jim Bowie shows he wanted a knife that he can deploy well ahead of someone with a muzzle loading firearm, or a long blade or sword. Examples:

The added curve in the blade is great.
The horn on the ring and the fuller, eh, not so much.
I'm a big fan of the "less is more" approach to design.
That mantra along with "from follows function".

Keep sketching and making cardboard cut outs. Layer up the cardboard for the handle scales. Above all, have fun.
