Destroyed a ColdSteel Longhunter-Part Deux

Please understand that I have a legal CCW.
Please understand that with that comes the legal requirement to be discreet. To me that is a common sense legal requirement that is quite valid. It also contributes to an obvious advantage along with legitimate training for me should I ever be placed in the position that I use my weapon.

Waving a weapon around and beating my chest about it is foolish on many levels and does little but to add fuel to a raging fire.

Go ahead and add fuel. I choose water. Logic should be considered rather than rhetoric as to which stance gives more ammo to the folks who would rather see us disarmed. One shows responsibility, the other shows reckless behavior.

Your own example of putting gasoline on a raging fire proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt.

+1, I've said the same thing, with the same parties, in the same debate many a time.

Why do Cold Steel discussions always end up in the tool vs weapon and/or subtle vs overt aguments?

Probably because the knives themselves are okay to good(depending on cost), and the customer service is okay, so the discussion just goes in the other directions.

Pick a forum or a subject and discussion begins turn into a personal opinion and conflict.

Why does it matter if a forum member enjoys a Cold Steel knife or Custom knife. As here with knives and guns as the subject matter and so many wanting to take it away and or restict what we can own. We should be unified as brothers and sisters for a common cause "freedom and constitutional rights"

I am sure Lynn Thompson and all the other knife makers and manufactures are present on the front line everyday.

oh, oh, oh, i got 2 cents...

free speech, +1

Forget the fuel and water methods I like when they use explosives to put out fires!

Didn't mean to start such a firestorm!!! :p:p ( Sorry, had to say it!!)

Just wanted to post a positive experience.

I hear people say that Cold Steel farms their stuff out to others for manufacturing. I'm not sure that makes any difference at all. The heat treat of their blades seems to be very good, but in the long run, sometimes a box is only a box. For CS's marketing purposes, the implied message is, "Ah, this may look like an ordinary knife, but see how we can pound it into the hood of a car!" It's more than a knife!

They design the knives, have them made, then market them—but that's the American way. When the company bought a bunch of 440A for a great price, they made a bunch of knives like the Recon-1, Pro-Lite, Night Force and Ti-Lites. When it was gone, they upgraded the profitable knives (the Recon-1 and Ti-Lite) and dumped the Pro-Lite and the Night Force. Had they sold, they would have been continued as well, yet the marketing went into high gear for all of the 440A knives and some survived and others didn't.

Good evening Mr. Phil, I'm one of those guys who has been prowling your other forums for years without ever saying much. I am quite glad to see you here. That being said I have to say Lynn's products will do pretty much what he says they will do. Now I have had a few that I felt could use some small change or in some cases just was'nt as useful as I had hoped but overall the product was good and well made for a reasonable price...aie: I'm sure there are many who would LOVE to have a MadDog ATAK but would be able to afford and use a CS SRK..and it would be much much better to need a knife and HAVE the SRK,... than it would be to need a knife and not have it. Yes? My sons and I all carry and use CS products and we are all martial arts practicianers and if you think an outdoorsman is hard on a knife try handing one to to a 6 year old!! (for the record the SRK I gave my son at 6 is still in use and he is now a strapping 15 year old!!) I find some of Lynns advertising a bit much but if we are going to tell the truth for the most part we laugh until we cry by watching a short fat guy go at it the way Lynn does! AND no man(even a short fat guy) who has practiced the martial arts for 20 years and built a succesful company and took his knives all over the world and used them and hands out free dvd's showing what his knives will do...should be shown disrespect. If someone dosent like his products..its a free country..dont buy them. I like them. I use them. and I will most likely buy more. Lynn can go hunting in Africa on my money, I won't mind a bit. Best to all. Anrkst

Whoah! I read most of this thread and forgot what it was about in the beginning! Nice to hear Cold Steel has good CS. My brother needs to send a Bushman back.
