Did a Bog Dog just go for $350?!?

One of the things I noticed here as a new person to the site is that certain Knives seem to pass through the same 4-5 peoples hands being resold for continually higher prices over a few weeks or months. Theses are the same people that then post on the final sale thread how this is such a great price to help bolster the final sellers position with a buyer who maby hasn't researched what the knife should be worth.

I've used the term shill to refer to this, which seems appropriate, but be careful not to be shouted down as a communist American-hater if you decide to do the same. :)

As long as the buyer and seller are satisfied, I don't see a problem, but I'm a free-market kind of guy. I've passed on knives I thought were too much, and paid too much also, but I've got the knives that I want!

I have extra BD's and HR's and others, and have had people contact me wanting to buy them. I'm not sure if I want to sell them or keep them for my kids. If I do decide to sell them (probably not), I'll probably price them as per the current market, not what I paid for them. but I'm not planning on selling them any time soon, I like them too much!

That is the tough part of enjoying the Busse family of knives. If they kept a constant catalog of knives available for purchase, no one would ever pay more than retail, and probably would pay less. As a new to Busse guy, you have a choice of waiting yeeeaaaarrrrssss to build a collection or you look around and pay the lowest of some very high prices. This is what I have done and now I sit back and wait for good deals. Do I like the way that Busse does it? Yes and no, it certainly protects my investment to a degree, but on the other hand it would be nice to buy at MSRP and not worry so much about what I paid for it. The market (just like the stock market and the recent cooling of the real estate market) will adjust itself and someone will be left holding the bag. Which is why I agree with the guy who said collect something that you like, that way if the price crumbles you still have toys that you like to play with.
