Are you asking about the knife in the pic? If so it’s a UWK and I do believe it was produced in carbon v.
yep. sure was thanks for the name of it. much easier to find in searching now.

Never cared for the ODA, but would love a UWK if it had a metal guard.

I see people get these 2 knives confused when listing on the bay. They do look similar at first glance.

Origin - Steel

ODA:

USA - Carbon V

Taiwan - 420

China - 4116 Krupp

Japan - San Mai

UWK: (I was told by an employee (ex) at Cold Steel that UWK stands for Unconventional Warfare Knife. I have see people list it as - Under Water Knife)

USA - Carbon V

Taiwan - 420

China - 4116 Krupp

Hope it helps

Introduced in early 2001. I'm not really sure why someone selling one would confuse it with the ODA. Not only are the handles completely different, but the blade has the knife's name printed on it!

With the sale to GSM Outdoors, I doubt we'll ever see it again.

and urrg.. flexi kraton guards
doubt if it made it into anybody's wishlist then :-)

Is that correct that CS made the ODA in Sanmai? I had always been under the impression that the ODA was a lower cost version of the CS R-1 which of course was made in VG1 Sanmai from 2007 onwards.

Agree. The blades are MAC-SOG on the UWK and Randall 1-7 on the ODA, obvious on first glance to anyone versed in knives.

ODA - San Mai - 2010 and 2011. Model # 38DASM. In Cold Steel catalogs. I have also seen the knife for sale occasionally.

2001 first year 420 steel until 2003. Then Not in the catalogs from 2004 - 2006. In 2007 catalog as 4116 steel. Then not in catalogs again until 2010 San Mai. Hope it helps.

And yes, I agree, I don't know how people get the UWK and ODA confused, but I have seen it on the bay several times. But then again, like I said, I constantly see "S35VN" and "XHP" incorrectly listed - even from major distributors on the bay.

Thanks. Do you have a current link to the CS archived catalogs?
The ones I have now all show a 404 Error. Guessing that may have to do with the GSM deal.

Anyone know what type of sheath a carbon V version should have?

Yes that’s what I meant. Thanks
