did cold steel ever make a macvsog

I have the krupp version of the UWK, it came with the plastic sheath. I haven't used it but it is a very cool blade. I wish it had a steel or brass guard and the multiple extra finger grooves are a bit weird but overall a fine blade.

Isn't the ODA the same thing as the "military special"? I always forget about that one because you don't seem them around often.

The R-1 "Military Classic" was the higher end (Micarta/stainless steel guard) and the ODA was the lower end with molded handle.
Both knives are copies of the Randall 1-7 and they evolved from Aus8 versions to the final VG1 San Mai III versions.
I owned the R-1 (along with the Randall 1-7 and Bark River(Blackjack) version in A2) and it was a pretty high quality knife. Both made ar the Hattori factory in Seki.

want to thank y'all for the pics and information..on these knives. it's truly appreciated.

maybe I'm just lost in the history of discontinued knives, but seems cold steel could release these again made in Taiwan in aus8 steel and decent price points and make some money on them. then again maybe it'd just be me buying and no one else.....

If they rereleased a UWK, made in Taiwan from AUS8 or 10, or VG10, I’d buy at least 2. I absolutely love that blade shape.
