did cold steel ever make a macvsog

Nice score! Love that blade shape so much. But yeah, I don’t remember any cold steel knives with that style sheath. It was a common generic pattern used in those days.
The sheath looks pretty beefy and I do prefer leather(especially over the alternative)so maybe I am lucky. Still weird though, it should arrive in a while to see what the deal is.

Ebay? Have seen several CV UWKs, ODAs, and OSSs over the past year or so with boxes, but incorrect sheaths. There was just an OSS the other day that had a Trail Master leather sheath. Weird that they have boxes but wrong sheaths.
Yep, pretty weird. Nice looking sheath though, but wondering about the fit, guess I will find out.

That’s a generic sheath for the USMC F/U style knife. Blue Ridge Knives (wholesaler) sells them, you can get them with or without the weave, black or brown, etc.

Thanks ! I didn't recognize the sheath as anything Cold Steel , but I wasn't sure it couldn't be .

Is there a way I can see this sheath they sell, looks like you need to be a dealer to see their wares.

Not that I'm aware of, I had/have access to their catalog is how I know.

I believe that the UWK has a thicker blade and also a shorter blade length than the USMC F/U, something to consider if you decide to use that sheath.

Got it today. Even better in person, can't believe I haven't had one before this. The sheath is a little tight at the ricasso but the length is correct. Nice thing about leather is that it stretches, beats the hell out of the plastic one(for me anyway)especially with the coating on the blade. Never been a fan of the secure-ex sheath scratching and dulling. Not all do that but I have had a few that did.

That's a good looking knife Congrats nice score. I have an old Sog S1 Bowie with that same blade profile. I'm in the process of parting with it though, looking for a XL Espada in S35VN or XTP.

G10 or aluminum? Still need to find a G10 one to go with the aluminum ones. One of the funkiest I own, and I love it, never fails to put a smile on my face when I pop it open.

NICE! I've got the large aluminum one like in your pic now I need that XL version. I've got a lawman and a recon coming in this week as well. Great looking knives and pics. Thanks for sharing,

yes. little different than the uwk, but still a cool historical kinda military knife.

id like to see cold steel bring these type knives back to life in sk5 and reasonable price points, but high quality..yeah I'm asking for a lot.:)
That's also based on a MACV-SOG knife. There were two designs, the more common one like in the original post, and one that looks a lot more like this one.

I keep looking for a good deal on a CS UWK, still waiting. What a quintessential design for what it is. The early sog seal pup design was decent, and I love them, but these were better all around, save for handle material.

The UWK is based on the well known MACV-CISO SOG 6 inch knives which were issued to some Special Forces units.
The ODA is based on the Randall 1-7, which was never issued, but carried in Vietnam by individual purchase.
The "other" MACVSOG knife is what is commonly called the Recon Bowie, a 7 inch blade with no swedge. It was actually
the first MACVSOG knife made by Japan Sword to Ben Baker;s order that was used in Vietnam.
Below is my old SOG Recon Bowie a reproduction.
